If Romo got injured would he get more respect?

Call me crazy but sometimes I wish Romo would have an injury that takes him out for 10+ games. It's not that I hate Romo its just the fact that he is under appreciated. I am sick of football fans and mostly Cowboys fans hate on our guy. It's like no one remembers the Quincy Carter, Drew Blesoe, Vinny Testaverde and Chad Hutchinson era.

If Romo gets injured and we go 2-8 in a 10 game stand would people appreciate him more? When our offensive is getting barley 200 yards a game and touchdown get "really" scarce, would people start to realize what he means to our team. They say absence makes the heart grows founder so if Romo got injured do you think he'd gain more respect?

He missed 10+ games in 2010, and nothing changed... We we 5-5, still a 500 team.

For most people, perception is reality. So no matter what Romo does or will do, he will never change in some people's eyes. He could lead this team to the promised land this year or next, and people would say "It was the defense that won us this championship, not Romo."

I guarantee if Romo gets to a must win game this season and wins 1 or 2 people will start to change their perception of him, because they will have seen him come through. Up until this point he hasn't done it, that's why he gets labeled as a choker.

Look at Flacco, he was never thought of highly but he got the Ravens to the playoffs and played phenomenal all the way up to a SB win. Now all of a sudden people are talking about him, because they saw him do it.

With Romo it's "I think he can do it"... But the reality is he's 33 and it hasn't happened yet. Most fans base their perception off what players have done, Romo needs to show us that he can do it. Come through in some win or go home games and fans will view him differently.

Until then his perception is what it is.

We were losing with him before he got hurt too. Our year would have sucked either way in 2010. We finished 6-10.. we would have maybe finished maybe 8-8 with Romo. Only difference between those two finishes is where you draft. I think we drafted 9th in 2011? I can't remember but it would have been like 18th or 19th if we finished 8-8.

Guy punctured a lung and broke his rib and STILL came back in to win that game and multiple games hurt like that. The guy will never get respect. Even when he wins a Super Bowl. People will find excuses

Ok your crazy. lol

My interest is the Cowboys not other fans. Not looking for a lesson or an I told you so moment only the success of this team.

If Romo goes down then I expect a bigger burden to be placed on the run game and defense. Orton I think is a decent QB and can help us but it is going to take a lot to overcome the loss of Romo.

I would just as soon he stay upright and injury free. :)

Again, its simple. Come through in a big game or 2 and people will start to change their perception.

I don't understand why some Cowboy fans expect Romo to get more respect than what he's earned. He's 1-6 in must win games and the buck stops there. You want him to get the same respect as Brees, Eli, Ben, etc? Well he's gonna have to do something of substance before getting it. He's not gonna be handed respect just because he's the QB of the Cowboys, respect comes with winning and coming through in big spots, which he hasn't done yet.

It's entirely up to Romo, if he does it the respect will come.

What's it going to be then, eh?

But isn't that one of the things that Romo defenders use as a reason why he hasn't won more?

And this nonsense that the same perception would continue is complete hyperbole.

I can all but guarantee if Romo wins a Super Bowl, all of this nonsense is forgotten. It worked wonders for the credibility of Steve Young, John Elway and Peyton Manning. Even career journeymen QBs got mileage out of winning a trophy. Trent Dilfer was bad, now he is hailed at least as one of the best bus drivers of all time. That is such a rare thing that it is next to impossible to deny the effect.

True. I support Romo but if this team can get to a SB and win it then credit should go to the team. Troy has 3 SB but it was many people on the Dallas Cowboys who made it happen not just Troy. I don't see Dallas failures as a Romo failure I see it has a Cowboys failure. It is going to take guys on offense and defense to get to the top not just Romo.
