People keep saying to demote Wade to DC. I just see no way in hades that he would stay here if they tried to do that.

Capers would probably be my choice as Jerry and Wade wanted him to come in and help this past off season but Stewart was too much of a pansy in his job security to want it to happen...now we no he had good reason to be worried about it.

I'd unleash the "new" Wade on the defense. MS and WP have worked together.

It's a perfect time, perfect place for all involved, imo.

So often in life timing just isn't right, but in this case...

What a way to open the new stadium! Wade could go from zero to hero as DC in Dallas. He ever wants a Super Bowl he better get on board because it's the only way he's ever going to get one.

I have a really bad feeling Jerry is going to give another "continuity" speech and not change one dam coach on the whole staff.

You guys actually think Jerry is going to do a complete 180 and fire Wade for Shanahan after yelling at the top of his lungs since the season ended that we could not change a thing???

It would be extremely foolish to demote your former Head Coach to a Coordinator position, even if he agreed to it.

You would have players that are bitter that he was demoted and would place their loyalties with him.

Unfortunately this scenario may playout anyway.

If Mike Shanahan was brought him, he would be stuck with Jason Garrett. Many of the players probably feel he has a shot to be Head Coach in the future and they may place their loyalties with him.

That's what's so perfect. Give Shanny control of the team/staff and Jerry can stay as GM which MS didn't do so well anyway. This can work, imo.

With most good coaches I would agree...With Shanahan the last thing I want him doing is picking the DC...he has had horrid defenses on his team and went through a multitude of DCs over the past few years.

Now you could give him a list and say...here is a list of DCs you can hire and then tell everyone...He picked the DC not me.

However, this thread was started to discuss what would happen in the event that Jerry came to his senses or Wade kicks the bucket in the next couple of days (not that I want him to die...anymore).

If Mike is hired....I guess Wade could be. A few days ago I'd have said, and did in fact, that there is no way a guy who was HC would do that but after seeing that Crennel has said that he'd stay as the DC in Cleveland, if the new people wanted him to, proved to me that anything in possible in that regard.

The only way I see Shanny coming to Dallas is if he can't get a HC position elsewhere, and is willing to come as the OC (assuming Garrett goes to Detroit). Lot's of "IF's"

Outside of that, not happening this year IMO.

Mort reported this morning that Shanahan is still owed about $20M from the Broncos, so whoever gets him won't have to pay and exhorbitant amount of money. This fits in to what the Boys can/could/would do.

Shanahan will fill those luxery boxes much, much faster than a vastly unpopular Wade Phillips will. Especially when this team is falling apart again mid-season.

Its an investment...
