If the Cowboys don't get credible safety help and the O Line still sucks

I really hate to think about it.

But the Cowboys being 8-8 seems optimistic, IMO.

Anybody see us -- again, with this bunch only -- rebounding?

Regressing?

There seems to be little heart and drive in this team, so I really think 8-8.

Fire away, Pollyannas.

WHat do you think the draft is for? If the Cowboys are smart they will draft a safety in the 2nd round

why not?....they have every bit the same chance of going 13-3 as they did before..without the Romo, Felix, Barber, T-New, and Kosier injuries 2008 ends much differently IMO.....only thing that has changed is the fans confidence.......the team still believes they can ........things are not as bad as most think...itll be alright ....as soon as we start the season 4-0 everyone will be back on board

Same bunch with better coaching and better prepared and no major injuries I can see 12-4 TOPS!.

But If everybody is still just happy to be a Football player and get a paycheck. And the coaching still sucks, with no leadership and no improvements in the mental aspect of the game. I see 8-8 Maybe. THis team right now is just to dumb and selfish to get away from their own Egos and mouths.

I wouldn't be shocked with 8-8, no, but I'm going optomistic with a winning record and believing they will make 11-5.

Just about everything that could go wrong happened last season and we were 9-7, so 8-8 seems stupid to me.

Barring something completely horrific I think the floor for this team is 9-7 and has been for a few years now. We all know what the ceiling is, but they'll never get there under this regime.

We had probably the worst plaugue of injuries I've ever seen on a football team in years and we still went 9-7. I'm setting the bar at 11-5.

That's a bit of a stretch to say for a football team. The Seahawks and Broncos off the top of my head were worse off than us. For a Cowboys team it was a really bad plague though. We're an inordinately healthy football team.

I think we as fans need to stop going to one extreme or the other in the offseason. Last year we were SB champs before we even played a down.

This upcoming season we're a .500 ballclub who will miss the playoffs?

Every year in the NFL is different. 08 sure as hell wasn't like 07. And I dont think 09 will be like 08. The team had a bad year. I dont think that will happen again. You dont think that the players are embarassed with their performance? That they missed the playoffs? That they are now being laughed at?

I'm sorry, I dont buy into the doom and gloom for this offseason and into next year. If we stay relatively healthy next season, my expectations are still Super Bowl. We will rebound with our performance, you better believe that.

In three of the past four years, the Cowboys have finished 9-7; therefore, 9-7 seems like the most reasonable prediction. The overall quality of the NFC will likely determine whether or not the Cowboys can again be wildcard fodder.

And as long as the organization is run in its current manner, it probably will not see a playoff victory.

8-8 would not surprise me at all.

Wade's a lame duck coach. We all know he's gone after this season.

Will the players play hard for Wade? or basically are they going to clip their paychecks?

In theory, with the talent we have, we SHOULD be at least a 10-6 to 12-4 team, esp if we get a solid Safety this off-season.

But that's all theoretical and on paper.

IMO, it's NOT whether we can pick up a player or two, it's really more about passion to play, pride, ambition, drive, not giving up, staying together through adversity . . . .

You know, all those "things" that money can't buy.

Talent isnt the issue, the Cowboys could easily win the Super Bowl with the roster they have right now, without making any moves in free agency and the draft.

The work ethic and desire are what is missing from this team.

If RW comes back and the defense continues to pressure qb's as they did last year he will be fine.

If we can get through the year without Proctor seeing the field and we replace the backup QB, I like our chances to get the playoff monkey off our backs.

Our injury situation was not as bad as many want to try and claim it was so they can use it as a source of blame for underachieving in 2008.

I've seen far worse not only for other teams, but this one as well. Hell, the 1996 playoff game against Carolina was worse than this whole season combined.

Most of the injuries we had this year were minor. only a few were the "out for the season" type, and certainly none as devastating as losing Tom Brady.

I think we had a poor season last year but I also think we still have the talent and the humble pie we were served will only help motivate this team. I expect a lot better than 8-8. I'm not going to trash anyone who is keeping their expectation low but I'm not going to lower mine, I still expect big things from this team

Didn't the Bengals have 20-some guys on IR last year?

I would say that our injuries last year were well worse than average. But I agree -- they do get exaggerated. We weren't the hardest hit team.

We weren't deep enough or capable enough overall to overcome the ones we got.

I think all teams have areas where they do not have good depth and taking an injury at that position would be extreamly costly to a team. Dallas clearly had depth at RB we took 2 injuries there and still saw backs producing. I think it is difficult to have depth at every position which is why it is easier to overcome some injuries than others
