Escobar. They didn't draft him in the second round to sit on the bench.

The we shouldn't have drafted him he shouldn't play based on draft status if he can't win the job in preseason

again, when they start throwing to the TE's in pre-season, we can get a better idea...but, NOT throwing to them may be a way to not tip our hand...perhaps they are just seeing how the TE's are running their routes knowing Tony will use them in real game situations like opening night

I agree, but wouldn't you want the best 11 on the field? Just because you're drafted high doesn't mean you should start right away, perhaps he can play in some sub package, but not in the base alignments.

how has Hanna looked blocking?
Could not be any worse than Escobar.

I honestly do not think he has played much in situations to test that. When the game gets replayed, I plan to check that out.

I have watched both Eifert and Ertz who were supposedly ahead of Gavin Escobar in the draft at TE. Gavin is playing just like the first rounder that the Bengals grabbed, and Escobar is actually catching passes better than them in practice(via what the media and what hard knocks is showing on all three). That said if Hanna can be reliable as a pass catcher, he is a better talent than all three.

He has to get better as a blocker for the two TE offense to work. I know if I have both he and Witten on the field at the same time, I know who I am sending out for a pass the majority of the time. Otherwise we added a sixth WR with a second round draft choice.

There isn't a clear #2.

More like a "2A", "2B" and "2C" depending upon the situation.
