If they go to Pittsburgh and Dak plays well and gets the win, then

...it will be time for Romo to step up to the microphone and tell the world that right now Dallas is Dak's team and he will be ready if needed but Dak has earned the right to continue playing. As long as he stays silent, the specter of a QB controversy will be alive and we will have to endure Jerry's comments and the possibility that he will meddle and screw this up. Tony is really the only one that can put the subject to rest because if anyone else declares Dak the starter going forward, the story will become "How does Romo feel about that?" It will be time for Romo to man up, put the whole issue to rest, and start getting prepared to be the backup so that he is ready if needed.

Dak will play well enough to win against an average Steeler defense. The real question and probably what decides the game is how well our defense does against their explosive offense.

that would be good, and it might help the team.
but tony may have been told not to talk to media, I dont know.

funny how each week someone says "if dak can win this one" etc etc.
At some point he may lose a game, most do.
Some media people are already saying that you stay with him even if he loses a game.

I would have said its time for him to do it now but it was the Browns. Show it one more time against a solid team with a good coach and get the team to 8-1 and I think Tony has to speak and put any controversy to rest. It may suck for him but the team does not need the Dak/Tony questions to linger through the second half of the season. I just think Tony is the only one who can put it to rest.

That would be both dumb and unprecedented in NFL history. A player on the roster is not going to hold a press conference to announce a roster decision that is not his to make. It sounds like a made for TV movie.
Jerry has already said he is fine with the ambiguity and doesn't care about what anyone outside the locker room thinks. Both QBs are just going to have to live with it.

I was listening to Mike Fisher on the radio this morning.

He said there's not one bone in Romo's body that is against Dak. He's fully behind him 100%...not 99%, 100%.

However, like any real pro, he would like a fair chance to earn his job back.
The question was asked at the presser to Garrett---all other positions allow competition, are you going to allow it at QB--especially when the one that got injured looked so much better every day in practice than the one starting? Garrett, of course, did not answer...as he shouldn't have.

Personally, I think it'd be very tough to disrupt what's going on right now. They could be even better with Romo, but what if they take a step back?
The final 8 games now appear, on paper, to be tougher than the 1st eight. Really, Tampa is the only team that's not good. But for all we know, Dallas could run the table with Dak as QB. Hard to top that except by margin of victory...lol.

7-1 is 7-1. I think they run with it until it breaks....and maybe it won't!

There's no reason to give teams on the back end of the schedule advance notice of who they should scout/prepare for. Even if there were medical reasons why Tony can't return, I don't think they would make an announcement. I'll be very surprised if they ever make an announcement of any kind until the off-season.

well for all we know it may be put to rest behind the scenes, tony is not suiting up, and sanchez remains the bkup.
I think tony would like to play , but like most is amazed by the team continuing to win.
I think dak may know the job is his until he loses a couple of games.
We just dont get any inside info, so it is hard to say.

I am going to continue to root for dak, and the team.
I like that dak has used witten like he has the past 2 games.

I think witten is seeing hey this could get me my ring ! And tony would get one too, just not like he wants.
But hey still a ring !

Dak is breaking one rookie record after another, and so no reason he cant break the rookie win a SB record too!

A quarterback in the twilight of his career who wants to play is not going to do that. He's just going to leave the choice up the the coaches, as any player should.

You might be right but my point is he should do it for the good of the team. If Jerry, Stephen, or Garrett comes out and announces that Dak is the starter going forward, then the story will become what is Romo thinking and doing behind the scenes. As long as he is silent, that story will fester, players will be asked about it every day, and it could become a huge distraction. He needs to put it to rest and say Dak has earned the right to play and he will get ready to play when and if he is needed.

Drew Bledsoe never did this when Brady took his job and it worked out OK.

I don't know that anybody has done it, ever, in fact.

Basically what you're saying would be a cool scene in a sports movie, but isn't a real thing.

I think this thing is going to get messed up. Play Dak and if he fails in playoffs, everyone will say SHOULD HAVE STARTED ROMO. Start Romo, he fails in playoffs, everyone says SHOULD NOT HAVE MESSED WITH A GOOD THING AND STUCK WITH DAK.

well I think you stick with the guy who got us to this point and to the playoffs.
I think they get more flak and ridicule if they insert romo and then fail.

That is why I say best to keep tony, and then let him try next year with a full season. give him the one year, and see what happens.
But dont mess with this year.

BS, that is not Romo job to announce who is the starter. As for QB controversy that appears to be amongst fans not this team. Just because fans are arguing over who the QB should be does not mean that is taking place in the locker room.

So basically unless we win the SB some fans will blame the other QB.

I believe that but think it's no coincidence Romo hasn't commented publicly on the situation. Not sure tho how he can "win" the job back at this point. The team does seem to improve with every week but laws of probability says it's not realistic we run the table the rest of the season. With that I don't see a loss being that trigger for Dak to lose the job.

I'm not saying he should announce it. I'm saying he needs to finally speak and put any controversy to rest. He needs to squash any speculation that he may be unhappy behind the scenes because that it what the story will be if and when Dak is announced as the full time starter.
