If they took Kevin King at 29 who would they have taken at 60?

Why would we have taken King? He doesn't seem any better than our second pick?

Yeah. My personal bummer. I understand what they went in looking for and why they made the decisions they did. From a personal satisfaction, armchair executive, extreme mick drafter perspective.

Alternate History who cares? Hey what if they would have landed Jerry Rice in the draft that year they were looking at him?
Dude what? I'm curious the possible approaches to building a roster.

Their plan of getting the top rusher and still getting starting corners worked out on their board.

Awuzie was highest rated player on their board at 60 so that would be the most likely player. McClay mentioned in an interview earlier this week that they liked some WR's or S's at 60 if the CB's had not been available so I think that was a likely option as well.

I don't think they liked their DE options at 60. They reportedly only had 3 DE's with first round grades on their board (probably Garrett, Thomas, and Barnett??). That means several of their DE's with 2nd round grades were probably off the board by 28 and almost certainly were gone by 60. The DE's available to them at 60 (Basham, Willis, Rivers) likely had 3rd round grades, which is exactly were they ended up being taken.

Then there's the case of Chidobe Awuzie falling deep into the second round.

For what it's worth, I'm told lack of height (Awuzie was barely under the magic 6-foot barrier after measuring 5117 at the combine) as well as arm length precipitated his fall. Awuzie's arms measured 30 5/8 inches; the only combine cornerback drafted with shorter arms was Cameron Sutton at 30 inches.

Basically they are saying this is a first round talent who fell a round because he didnt exactly fit the mold. I have heard the same about Lewis.

Someone at DE far less satisfying than Taco. Whereas the DB Awuzie could be better than King, I think he is.

King, Awuzie, and Lawson wouldn't have been a bad 1-3...probably still would take Taco, Awuzie, and Lewis tho

Your sig is absolutely beautiful, bro. Coming from a father of a son, this is the type of love I aim for when my boy is your age. I adore my son, and it's seems your father adored you, and you him in return.

I've always wanted to tell you this, so I'll use an offseason thread to do so :)
Nice Trouty...you are all heart.

Or if we drafted Joe Montana instead of Doug Cosby ...

Thank you for this. It really made my day. Me and my dad were inseparable. We did everything together and spent every moment we could have tog. I wish he could have seen my son and his grandson but life unfolds like it should. I appreciate then message and can say whole heartedly that we all agree on here that we want the same thing and that's to win a super bowl for us and everyone we love.

Many of these mock drafts had King going to Seattle at 26. At first glance, he looks like he would be the ideal Seattle CB with his length and athleticism. But Seattle passed on him twice in the first round. If the rumors are true, they were willing to stay at 31 and take Taco but were not willing to do so for King.
