If Ware Is Cut, Does It Change Your Opinion About Jerry?

Removing himself from football operations is the only thing that would change my mind about Jerry. It is a bad movie and we all know the ending.

For 18 years, I thought Jerry was a great owner but a fool as a GM.....from listening to his numerous interviews over the last two weeks, I think he's even a bigger fool as a GM than ever before......Jerry no longer cares about winning, but just being relevant in the news..

I think Jerry cares about winning, he just has no idea how to go about doing that...

He's adamantly convinced that he has a football mind because of the titles he won in the 90's.

Did you just ask me if Jerry has to cut his best defensive player because of the mismanaged cap if it will change my opinion of him for the better?

Our best?? huh, not anymore

Right now Scandrick is playing better than dude. He is finished, so yes he needs to be cut.

As far as I'm concerned Lee is our best Defensive guy at the moment. At least when he's hurt, he does not come out and make things worse.

I bet that Ware’s drop in production last season was due more so to his age than his injuries

So according to your graph Ware has averaged less sacks than the "typical pass rusher"?
I guess he should be the 800th fastest player to 100 sacks instead of 2nd.

We dont know what will happen obviously, but if Ware is given his walking papers will you look at Jerry and feel like maybe he has learned something over the years and got it right this time? Does it indicate some change? Will you view Jerry any differently and have a better opinion of him for letting Ware go?

Yes, I will believe that Jerry has learned a lesson. I would be impressed they just reduce his salary to 6M or less.

The prior history of a lack of continuity with coaches and it's affect upon changes with both personnel and schemes...just can't be changed for 20 years. But since all humans can change, one still has to judge on change and it's affects once it is started. There are changes, but the question of a long termed Jason Garrett will have to be the reference bender for many fans.

We shall see, but Ware is a choice on cap management and team directions on talent...standing alone, that is all.

It would indicate some change to me, but his weaknesses as far as I'm concerned is that he doggedly sticks to what worked for him in the past and he has a hard time transitioning and being on the forefront of change. And he no longer really wheels and deals on draft day.

It would show to me that he is starting to see the light on players north of 30 who are not performing to expectations. Cut your losses quick and move on. But, there are too many other factors that are crucial here. He still is in favor of 'cover corners' who can't tackle, he tries to 'get by' at safety and at guard and the best way to draft is to stockpile picks. So it's part of the puzzle, but you have to have all of the pieces to consistently win. You can't be 'half pregnant.'

Nice job you managed to turn that into a Jerry Jab. You had to ignore how many games Ware has been ineffective in the last 2 years to classify him as the best defensive player but I don't think anyone will notice, LOL

Releasing Ware would be the easy part addressing the hole will go hand in hand with that move.

I never really had the impression Jerry was reluctant to cut players no matter what their name was. I really cant remember any vet that became unproductive that was given more than 2 seasons to recover. I think that would be a short list. Some guys have been kept around for the comp pick they would bring. IMO the only way you'll know how much Jerry has learned is when they get a good team together and win some games will he change his drafting philosophy back from building to trying to maintain whats here the same way he did with the 90's teams and again with the team that made the playoffs 3 times between 06-09. It's a trap that many teams have fallen into. Pittsburgh is the best example recently. The scary thing about Jerry is how he broke his back trying to buy a receiver with Galloway and then again with R.Williams.

It would tell me he's listening to others.

It would also smell of his desperation.

It would not be like Jerry to bail on Ware after sticking it out so long with Jay Ratliff and others.
