How sweet a deal would that be? They're all under 28 years of age. Colombo could anchor the right end for years to come, and davis could move to left tackle next year replacing Adams. Kosier would move to right guard replacing Davis.

Again, do you realize how much cap space is saved by releasing Rivera, and the subsequentally not resigning Adams?

We can afford the combination for a year easily.

I'm not sold on Davis...I think this is hype to get Columbo to sign a reasonable deal.

Flo - Kosier - Gurode - ??? (draft pic or Deilman) - Columbo

Davis is a better OG, much better. We don't want him at LT, our QB would get killed...

3 million in 2009

Adams is getting 5 million this year.

How about the cap hit for releasing him?

How about that one?

The cap hit effects one year or two years depending on when we release the player...

releasing rivera will result in a 5.4 million dollar cap hit. If spread over two seasons...

2.7 million dollars...

generally speaking we probably wouldn't "save" money until next year. Which is the point....

Personally, I don't like the idea unless the price is right.....I think Dallas may have to overpay to replace Rivera and I'm fine with that. However, Romo is going to take up a lot more jack next year and eat up that cap space. I also believe Mcqunistin may be the answer at LT with one more year behind Flo......just resign Columbo and find Rivera's replacement is the best play IMO.

If he was being serious, he needs to be taught what the salary cap is all about.

And if you think it's a "real possibility", I think you do too.

This isn't Madden. There's no chance of this happening.

If we only make one upgrade on the OLine, we are doomed.

Bledsoe/Romo ran for their lives, it wasn't because of one person I can tell ya that.

The HOtel got better as he got back to good physical condition. Columbo should improve with another offseason to get stronger. Kosier gets another offseason & TC to get better aquainted with playing just ONE position. If we can upgrade Rivera to Dielman/Steinbach/Davis- our line should be much better next season.

Once again anyone who thinks this is a madden deal, or that it couldn't happen honestly aren't looking at the numbers.

Dielman -
Rivera's contract is canceled out and replaced with Dielman's. Dielman is one of the best offensive linemen out of San Diego. Our head coach was the defensive coordinator from San Diego, and has seen the guy every day since 2004. We have a hole at offensive guard, who do you think Phillips would look at first to fill that hole? Lets be serious...

Leonard Davis
We're going to have a hole at left tackle in 2008-9. And I don't see the point in resigning Flozell Adams. Leonard Davis could fill that spot. And then we could still make use of Kosier. Who can probably play every spot on the line. Signing players in the first year isn't especially expensive.

By the time the cost of either Davis or Dielman got onto the books, both Rivera and Adams would be off.

Having players like Dielman run blocking for you makes the difference between having a LaDainian Tomlinson or a Julius Jones...

Davis is not that good of a tackle, let alone LT. Guard is where he belongs.
