As long as we are playing what if , who do we sign if we cut Romo?
To paraphrase, there are 67 million reasons why Romo is not even minutely debatable. That's a franchise quarterback-level investment. He may be benched like previous franchise quarterbacks have been in the past, but is there the possibility that he will be cut this season or even next season? To quote The Duke, "Not hardly".

Wow! No eight men in the box with that line up!:lmao2:

If we don't throw our WR's the ball it wouldn't matter if you had Owens and Roy Williams.

If the offensive line and the running back can pickup the blitz in that situation, Tony Romo can beat that QB pressure with any wide receiver combo. The potential obstacle which arises in your assumption is quarterback protection, not the receiving options.

For goodness sakes, :madden: . We have receiving talent already in place beyond that of Terrell Owens. He is not the "end all be all" of receiver talent on this team right now. We have one of the top three (if not two) tight ends in the league right now. We have a quarterback who is fully capable of recognizing the blitz and delivering the ball on a quick slant to beat that pressure right now. The best offense is one that utilizes all its weapons in any given situation. If you're placing all your trust in just ONE, you're only making it possible to more easily shoot yourself in the foot. This is STILL football, not Tecmo Bowl.

To me, this is the key. You give Tony time to work his magic and our TOless team will be fine with the remaining WRs that are on the roster.

In order:

RW11 - our #1
Austin - deep treat #2
Crayton - Dependable slot WR and blowhard - #3

Between the rest, we might get lucky

Hurd - good hands but lacks speed, still seems to find the creases/openings
Stainglass - maybe his time in WR 101 classes might finally payoff

These WRs are do-able plus also factoring in our other weapons:

TE - Witt & MartyB

RB - 3 headed monster

this O should go where no O has going before :D

There's as much chance of cutting Romo as TO.

I heard the fins might deal Beck, should we go that way?

We are way too wrapped up in WRs, we need to spend that money on other positions.

Please clarify.

Are you stating that the chances that Romo and Owens could be released are both very, VERY remote?

OR

Are you stating that the chances that Romo and Owens could be released are both zero percent? Because Romo is certainly there already.

Would it be a crazy thought we sign a reciever such as Tj Housh etc, etc? I wouldnt be suprised that this is not being discussed at Valley Ranch. We can lose Owens and all of the baggage that go with it and take his salary and give it to Housh or somebody like that. I know people will say you still have to pay him when he is released and that will negate signing another reciever, but were talking Jerry Jones and we all know he can afford it. Plus, the cap is so high now you can fit whoever you want under it somehow. Its just a thought. Opinions???

It would be a great signing, but Owens would not have to be cut to do this.

I agree that if ANY money is going to be spent on offense, it has to be the offensive line. I'm so ticked off that Flozell had to get paid this past offseason. One of the dumbest moves in NFL history, but anyways. Romo is a top 3 QB when given just enough time. Look at those games against the Browns,Niners,Seahawks where he just had all day and was a open heart surgeon on that field. I realize those are horrible teams, but I just said that to show what he can do with enough time.

I think people really under estimate what Austin is capable of. I think that if Owens was released, Austin would be our breakout player of the year. It would also do wonder for Romo's mind set, not having to make sure Owens gets his catches.

I have found that things seem to come easier in life when you don't force it so much. With Owens gone, I think Austin would get his catches to make an impact that way.
