Parcells believes in a conservative, ball-control offense and a smothering defense. The OL is a priority but OL are not an area Parcells has upgraded in the first round historically. Our biggest needs IMO: FS may be the biggest. RT is probably second on that list, but C is crucial also. LB help is still needed. A young WR may be in the picture on the first day but Key isn't going anywhere or Glenn, Price looks good I think, and Crayton is a clutch WR - i think we're OK here. K is a spot we simply must nail down, but i think FA is the way to go here. I want a proven commodity at this critical position, considering we're going to be in a lot of close games.

I just think if one of the LTs are sitting there when we pick in the 1st, the value will be too great to pass on

Dale, I agree with you. But my question is how?

As you mentioned, Larry Allen has arguably been the team's best lineman this season.

Flozell has pretty good sized money at LT. Would the Cowboys make a change there. He will be coming off an injury and might be better suited on the right side, but LTs are also hard to find.

Al Johnson is a Parcells guy, and he's young. I would think that he gets another chance.

Tucker and Gurode may have turned the corner and become a valuable backups at several different positions, although backups are hardly irreplaceable.

Marco Rivera just got big money at guard. I can't imagine Dallas cutting ties with him or his positive influence.

Pettiti is very young and has been fairly solid as a rookie. Bill doesn't like to give up on youth, so he's here.

I glance over that line, and as much as I would like to see some things differently, I don't know how feasible that is. What do you think?

All good points. Pettiti could be in for some competition if we see a player in the draft or FA that we like. Pettiti can still turn the corner and finish strong, but if we finish the season unhappy with his play, we could easily bring in someone to compete with him and have the loser get the backup gig.

Allen would probably be 2nd in line, but his play has been fine this year. All comes down to salary and age I suppose. It would be nice to see Peterman pick up the pace, but I'm not so sure it will happen any time soon.

I don't see Adams moving any time soon and Johnson stays at center IMO.

We need to hook up Al Johnson with Barry Bonds' trainer/nutritionist.

Al needs to get on the Vitamin S regiment. ;)

Right now our Defense is in really good shape for a few years. We have a lot of talent throughout, and much of it is very young. This off-season really solidified this side of the ball for a long time. Obviously we could use a FS, but we should be able to obtain that. We should be able to get a good one without spending to much, or a mid round pick.

The exciting thing is what we have on the D-line, and it is just going to get better, IMO a lot better.

On Offense I agree we need to go get O-Lineman. If we can do the same thing we did with the D-Line on offense this team will be a legit contender for a few years.

Games are won up front, and if we have a dominant O-Line and D-Line we will awesome, and will be able to play to Parcells strenghts. The good thing is we really have some weapons to mix in as well with Witten, Crayton, Julius, Barber, Thompson, Glenn, and Key. Obviously the WR position is getting old, so we need to do something there, but I have no doubts that if we can get a very strong O-Line Key, Glenn, and Bledsoe have a couple more solid years left for us to contend. That also gives us more time to get those positions, and develop a Romo and Henson. BTW. I really like Romo and think he has more than most think.

This is a very exciting time to be a Cowboy because this team is not just being built to win now, but for a long time to come. The future is bright! :starspin
