Would you guys give up a 1st rounder for Matt Schaub? I know its early but I bet the Cowboys are already looking ahead covering all of their bases concerning our qb situation.

For a look at some other 2007 free agents.......

It's NEVER early to start thinking about next year, especially when its Cowboys related.

If we are going to spend a first on a qb I'd prefer it be in the draft.

exactly. Even though we think we know what we'd get with Shaub, i'm not sure they spend a #1 on a backup QB. Well he's a backup in ATL and of course could start here.

The words "hell no" when it comes to Schaub. Schaub is a slightly better version of Doug Johnson, but with a lesser arm. At best he's average. But because he moves the ball better in the air than Vick does, everybody thinks he's far better than he really is.

They'll re-sign Romo if they want to, so I'm not even worried about it.

Didn't know that, and have never seen him play. The media hypes him up to the point of saying Vick might lose his job to him THIS YEAR. Oh well.....

Chris Simms stills intrigues me. Will he be unrestricted next year?

I don't see Simms hitting the market any time soon.

Schaub is average,,, hmmm, endorsement for Henson there.. Parcells has said Henson has been average in camp.....

On a serious note,,, Schaub starting will be a result of Atlanta scrapping the "Running QB" experiment in Vick.

Romo is Schuab. If you give a 1st round pick for him, he will exp[ect first round money. Give the money to Romo, and keeop the pick.

OR better yet, trade Romo for a first next year. IF Schuab is worth a first, so is Romo.

And that ain't going to happen. Owner Arthur Blank will stick with Vick no matter what. Can't say I blame him since Vick legitimately draws a ton of cash for the Falcons.

What about QBs coming out in 2007?

I'm biased, but I like UTEP's Jordan Palmer. His INTs are the one big issue... the guy just tries too hard sometimes and forces too many passes. He has to learn to throw the ball away. 6'5 235lbs (same build as Carson Palmer). He has a good deep arm. Despite the 19INTs, he had 29TDs and a 59.4 completion % and and efficiency rating of 140.54. On top of that, he's a team leader. Not meek, not timid. he's the kind of guy that would fight tooth and nail for a starting job right away.

Mike Price has brought him a long way from where he was after his freshman year. Cutting down the INTs could be what makes/breaks him.

but..just my opinion

Meh. He might be the 4th-6th best senior QB prospect at this point. I'd put Troy Smith, Brady Quinn, and Drew Stanton ahead of him for sure, and possibly Chris Leak and/or Tyler Palko.

What if he has a mediocre year? But even if he has a great year he still will be free to test the market right?

I have to see way more out of Romo before I say he's worth more than Schuab. At this point it's not even close, that Backup from ATL is a pretty good.

I guess. Except that all the hype surrounding Schaub is based on one start.

AJ Feeley and Billy Volek showed more than Schaub has before they became starters, and they certainly haven't amounted to anything.

Sometimes, a backup is just a backup. And as of right now, that goes for Romo, too.

No...Hell NO...I'd use my first rounder on a first round talent before using it on a backup who has yet to prove anything.

If we don't resign Romo, or if we do and he flops, I look for us to bring in another FA QB to start when Bledsoe is finished.

I find it amazing with the year Bledsoe had last year without a T.O. that so many fans are ready for Romo to take his job. Ridiculous...I don't care what his mobility is, Bledsoe can throw the ball and will be our QB for as long as Parcells is here and maybe after that.
