If we go back to the 4-3

I wonder if the Dolphins would trade Zach Thomas straight up for James?

They get younger and we get better for a run over the next two years.

Contracts are in the same ball park, except we would take a signing bonus hit.

3 more.... WAY TOO OLD.

According to NFL.com he had 165 tackles this season to lead the league, definetly too old.

If you don't have the brains to see that your not worth the time.

If you dont have the brains to see that a guy that gets 165 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles and 9 passes defended still has something left in the tank, you arent worth the time.

A lot of players don't fade out, they burn out quickly. For example, Curtis Martin had a monster season before just going to crap. Who knows whether he'll have 2 or even 3 more productive seasons, but my guess is that it's not likely he even has 2 more in him.

Its anyone's guess as to how much longer his career will last. If being too old is producing like that, then sign me up. That was one of the best of his career. The point of the original post was to pick him up for a year or two to solidify the defense.

I would make this trade in a heartbeat, regardless if we stay in the 3-4 or not.
James showed he bites on the run way too much and has no feel for in the passing game.
If anyone remembers this was the major flaw in his game when we played the 4-3 a couple of years ago.
Parcells said he has trouble in coverage and he could not unseat Coakley who is about the same age as Thomas by the way.

What would have been bad is for some idiot to come along and signed Curtis Martin to a lucrative deal the year after he had a 1700 yard season.

But according to your line of thought, they would have been idiots to not sign him to a large contract after that year.

Where are you getting this? I never said I would pay him a ton, the idea of the thread is trading James for Thomas. Getting rid of James would be a godsend.

GUYS... its never gona happen, were a 3-4 team and have how many picks and FA's invested in it? I'd rather keep on with and just get a new coach for those guys. The 3-4 is a better defense once we get all the pieces and were not far off.
