I know I'm notoriously bad at handicapping games, but I can't imagine why people think we're going to win this one right now without getting players back.

This series is about one team savaging the other in the most brutal way possible when they have the advantage. And PHI has the advantage right now. If we have no LT and no MIKE, we've got no chance. what are you guys seeing that I'm not?

Whatever you're not seeing, I'm not seeing either.

:omg:

Honestly, I'm getting visions of Wade Phillips' last stand against Green Bay.

I just hope that same kind of beating results in the same tough choice being made. Only this time with the right guy.

It surely will. But even if they don't go far this year, Wentz looks like a "hit" and he and the Eagles will be tough competitors for years to come. Maybe Dak/Wentz is the next Manning/Brady in this league?

However you look at the NFC this year, I don't see this Dallas team competing with any of them. Maybe before last Sunday, but Dallas was just hanging on then and have now lost three of their best players. For me, that's pushed them over the edge from possible playoff team to doormat.
You and I are on the exact same page. We apparently have some (more) rebuilding to do in order do to be competitive and the Eags just upped the ante. This FO is going to have to be extremely lucky to compete in the future given our inconsistent drafting and coaching nature of the past..

I don't know how you feel, but I think that anything short of a career complete coaching overhaul will change these results.

I ask this:

What part other than head coach hasn't changed in the past eight years?

Jason Witten at TE?

Other than that, there's not a single player or coaching position that I can think of that hasn't changed.

And yet the disappointing results continue.

So then I ask:

What's left to be changed?

See the very same thing as you. All positives point to Phili. If we can stay within 10 points within the 4th quarter, we may stand a chance. However given the way Wentz and Co. has looked, they do not let their opponents stay in the game like we do. They keep attacking in all 3 phases. Ya think Phili got some great info from the Atlanta game on our weaknesses? Dang right they did. We're gong to have to consistently roll Dak out of the pocket to keep him in the game, I know that much.

To be clear, I haven't given up on the season. But I don't see how we win this game right now.

I'd feel different with Tyron and Lee, btw.

Huge game Sunday night. Can't overstate it. Would be nice if we had Zeke, Lee, and Tyron all healthy and on the field, but, that won't be the case.

Coaches and players need to be on point for us to have a chance in this one.

A win would be huge, I think not only in terms of the standings, but for morale and confidence as well.

Our defense without Lee is by far the biggest concern. It's like they can't stop anyone or make a play without him being on the field. Our pass rush will need to have a great showing for us to win.

That is the question JJ has been avoiding for many years. He's tried copy catting other successful teams. He's tried new coordinators and changing up the coordinators and H/C's jobs and titles. He's tried great defensive head coaches and he's tried loading up on FA and tried drafting potentially great players with injuries or bad raps. Everything (post Jimmy Johnson) has failed to get this team into a position for a championship.
JJ needs to look in the mirror and decide if it's himself or the team he cares about most.

I haven't felt this discouraged going into a game since late 2015.

Even if we had Zeke, Lee, and a healthy Tyron it wouldn't be a guaranteed win. Without them, yeesh.

When it comes to Garrett, there's nothing elsewhere left to try. There's no equation that includes him that might lead to success.

Believe it or not, I have not given up either. The NFL has a weird way of working out wins and losses on any given Sunday. Anything can happen and like I said, if we can stay in it in the 4th q. we can win. And that would do wonders for the teams confidence.

It's been said that Tyron is likely to play, although if he's still limited, it might not be enough to avoid sacks and hurries. Lee will still be out, so there's that to consider as a distinct disadvantage for our defense. I'm hoping for some breaks to come our way, although the way the calls are mounting against us, it's somewhat difficult to envision luck being on our side. I'm still hoping for a win but most definitely not banking on it. Conversely, with the ball taking funny bounces at times and it being a divisional game, anything can happen. :D

And you're one of the most positive Cowboys fans around. If there was a silver lining, you'd find it.

Everyone is very down and I totally get why. It was depressing to see the falcons game. But really Philly is the best team we play the rest of the year. It will be hard but I believe we will have a much better showing against Philly and may even win it.

If we do, we will run at least 4 wins off in a row! Then Zeke is likely back and with him I'm sure we take the last 2. That gets us into the tourney and anything can happen then.

Hold your head up guys. We still have a decent chance to get in the playoffs this year.

I dig your style FL.

I'm curious as to how you could not?

Lose this game and they're 5-5 with no shot at the division and two more weeks at the very least without Elliott, and likely a few more without Lee as well.

Other than mathematically, I don't see how the season isn't over.

I agree. I'm done with JG however what "effective" head coach is out there who will also put up with the Jones?

And a L means stick a fork in on the season before Thanksgiving.

It is pretty rare we see any Dallas team under Garrett come out and play angry and with their hair on fire.

If there is one game for them to come out and play like that, this would be it.

But all too often, as we have seen, in the playoffs plus the one and dones over the years, we don't seem to respond well to that kind of pressure.
I said they needed to come out and play mad against Atlanta. They came out and played dead.

Mathematically is what matters. I've seen too many teams turn things around and go on improvable runs to pack things in at 5-5.

There are too many scenarios where 10-6 gets you a WC, and too many games left for teams in the WC hunt to play each other. After the PHI game, we get a stretch of winnable games. It's conceivable we get Lee and Smith and Bailey back and end up 8-6 with Elliott on the roster and @SEA and @PHI resting players to go.

They actually played well to start that game. I think if either Lee stayed in or if we punched in that first 2nd half drive there might have been a different outcome in what ended up a blowout.

Depends on the money and the terms.

I think Jones could get a good coach like Harbaugh if he was willing to pay him. Jones gets the "meddler" label, but Parcells would vouch for him otherwise.

And besides, any coach's contract is guaranteed. Harbaugh gets paid $7 million a year or whatever for however long the deal goes regardless.

One things for sure, nobody would be as bad as what he dealt with with York and Baalke.
