If we're not stopping the run at a better rate with all the attention to the DL then what?

Clowney, EZ, Thomas who is playing better for us, Clark, OSA, and you plug in Williams. This is a lot of resources/expensive resources with the big 3 at DT. If we can't be better at stopping the run, what else needs to happen?? Something has to give, LB play needs to be better, but it helps like hell when the DL protects the LBs and allows them to run free, instead of the DL being pushed around into them!!

We've had a rest with the bye week, it's time for this defensive line to play with some grit and act like they want to play better. It just doesn't mean look good in a few games then completely look bad. We all would like to see consistency, something we haven't seen in a while!! Please give your thoughts!!

I have to see what happens with Quinnen Williams in the game. He would normally command a double team because he will beat most one on one blocks. This means one offensive lineman will not get upfield to block a LB. We should see LBs flow to the ball better as a result when Williams is in the game. I am curious to see how many snaps he gets.

But to me, this is not the biggest issue with the Cowboys defense. Sure, getting run on sucks. But those big plays in the pass defense to wide open receivers are the real problem. When it's 3rd and 14 and the offense converts on a 17 yard pass play that's worse than their poor run defense, especially since it seems to happen all the time. I am hoping Williams' bigger impact is a pass rush up the middle. If he can push the pocket into the QBs face, maybe some of those 3rd down conversions will fail and the defense can get off the field.

And btw, the offense the last couple of weeks hasn't exactly looked great either. That offensive line has to get a lot better if they want to overcome the defense.

LB should be more free to make plays but will they!!? Take Murray out the game he can't find the ball

Get some LBs who can play.

Listen up, Coogor. Stopping the run starts w/ DT play, but there's a ton more to it than that. You will not be able to stop the run w/o good DT's, but LBs are also needed, along w/ the correct scheme and playcalls. We need a heady LB to provide the calls, and w/ Wilson we got just that. Steal.

Thomas is out 4 weeks minimum. Hooker may be back. Wilson may be healthier. Our safeties have been a major problem.
