The failure to get an explosive TE down the field is one of the major fails of this offense.
Our TE is pretty far down the list of reasons for problems with this offense.
But dont worry, we are about due to draft one in the 2nd round.
Since he is not a TE that breaks tackles (except for Philly game when helmet came off)...can JG group design some plays with routes that find the feet past the chains?
Maybe we need to draft another tight end in the 2nd round.
Yeah baby! I think we should get someone who can catch the ball, but can't run block or pass protect enough to involve them in the game. We love those guys!

Nobody's "ripping Witten a new butthole", as you so eloquently stated. We're ripping the play calling of obvious routes designed to be 5 (or more) yards behind the chains, going to a player that's not exactly the best at getting YAC.You people are funny.
There is a thread throwing Dez under the bus and now we have one ripping Witten a new butthole.

Has anyone ever stopped to think the reason he is running routes that are a few yards short of the first down marker could be because the defense is camped at the first down marker and receivers shouldn't run into coverage. Witten does what receives are supposed to do.....find the hole in the zone. Would you rather he runs past the marker into coverage and Cassell throws a weak pass into coverage? You must love pick 6's.
Now the entire offense is awful I agree. But this question about why a player runs routes short of the first down marker is less than football 101. The defense isn't going to give up a hole in the coverage just past the first down marker...why would they.
