I was thinking about this on the way home this afternoon. If you break the home run mark of Hank Aaron will people automatically assume you were juicing? I started wondering what career record would be more satisfying career hits or career home runs. That thought spun off into this topic.

If you could break a career record in each of the big 4 team sports, what record would it be and why?

Mine...

Football...Montana and Bradshaw's 4 Super Bowl wins as a QB. Talk about the Holy Grail. The first QB to achieve 5 is instantly a deity for the ages.

Baseball...The no hitter record. Nolan Ryan was my all time favorite player. There was something amazing about when he took the mound.

Basktball...The blocked shots record. I always wanted to be tall and erase every shot put up within reach.

Hockey...This is the strangest one but career penalty minutes. I'd like to have more time in the penalty box than on the ice. Someone goes after the Gretzky on my team, he's mine.

Okay, what are yours? Or if there's another sport with a career record you prefer give that one.

Football: Defensive TDs record

Basketball: Wilt's 100 points in a game

Hockey: Who cares?

Baseball: Not a sport

Baseball all time Home runs is the Mecca

Baseball all time hits you would need 200 hits for 22 seasons to pass Pete Rose. The Hall is for great players and Heaven is for good people.

Hockey - no one really cares or could rattle off records. Ditto Basketball.

Basketball is probably Wilts 100 point game.

Football records? Probably career rushing yards and passing yards but a distant second to the baseball marks.

Greatest record that may never be broken? Ted Williams 56game hit streak.

baseball: Home run record (no brainer)

football: Most SB victories

Basketball: most 3 pointers (I love how those change a game)

Golf: Lowest 4 rounds in the Masters (hockey sucks)

Love golf, the record I would want to break would be to shoot a 58 in a round.

There's a school in Scottsdale called Vision 54 I beleive it's run by Pia Nillson (sp?), though I could be wrong, and Annika is heavily involved and a devout follower of the philosophy. It's an all around golf philosophy that focuses more on the mental aspects of the game. The first rule is to make it a goal to birdie every hole (hence the "vision 54"). Interesting stuff. If you have the time research some of it.

Excellent question during the slow time Hos. the only bad thing is now you have made me think.

Okay NFL I like HHs defensive TDs record, I think the defensive TD is such a deflator and has a better chance at being a game changer.

MLB: This is a hard one b/c I am not a big fan so I would go for the HR record because as Maddux and Glavine once said "chicks dig the long ball"

NBA: Another sport that I don't really get into until the last 5 minutes. so maybe game winning shots if there is such an record.

NHL: I think I would like the most shut outs record. I would rather be a filthy goalie than a pretty boy scorer. (also most concussions given in a season would be kind of cool.....demented but cool)

and just because I seen somebody else post about golf I would love to shoot 20+ par:lmao: but true.

Baseball: Career pitching victories. Someone will shatter DiMaggio's 56-game streak before anyone even comes anywhere close to Cy Young's 511 wins.

Football: I'm with Hos -- five Super Bowl wins as a starting quarterback. For the Cowboys, of course.

Basketball: Career 3-pointers made.

Hockey: Whichever of Gretzky's records is easiest to break.

NBA... An 82-0 season followed by an undefeated post-season. As a player or coach that would be phenomenal.

MLB... 100 HRs in a season. I wouldnt just want the record, I would want to shatter it.

NHL... 101 Goals in a season. Wayne had 100.

NFL... 250 career sacks. The current record is 200.
