The DEFENSE is good in stats but SUCKS in reality..They play lack a bunch of hyper kids who get in hurry and screw things up.. IE... Useless Penalities..IF I WERE COACH FOR THE GAME against INDY.. I would do two things..
1. Go find LAwerance Taylor and PAY HIM big to come in get this defense angry, not little kid screaming angry BUT Manly...talk with LB's on how to Hit and move and hit hard again...not this just run and push... like they do now..

2. Get D. Sanders and Darren Woodson in here to push the DB's talk with them and motivate them show'em Techiques and situations(SP)....
3. I dont think the running game is broke, however I think Barber would be more useful on some First and third downs..JJ doesn;t do much for passes that dink and dunk underneath..Barber is more versatile....use him

OK one more thing...On BIG plays like possible game winning kicks. Huddle the players and coaches together and get them focused...Fourth and one with the game on the line.. get this team together coaches and players..
It might cost a time out but it could prevent stupid plays...

There is NO i in team,, either with the coaches or players..it has to be ONE TEAM....

Hmm, intersting thread so I will bite.

The only thing I would tinker with is the defensive play calling.

It would be alot more aggressive, more stunts, delayed blitzes and more man-to-man zero coverage.

I would implement alot better blitzing schemes and run them more often from all directions.

The only thing I would do different is use Ware differently.

He is ALWAYS lined up on the teams best pass blocker.

Washington tries to use a tight end on him and its not even close.

A lot of these Merriman people fail to realise that Merriman gets a lot of mismatches. Ware doesn't.

Thats the only thing I would change.

Why are people so set on a blitz happy D? Would everyone feel better about this team if we had 10 more sacks? The sack is the MOST over rated stat in football. Guess it does not matter to some on here that 90% of the big plays that we have given up this year have come against the blitz. And I would bet that if you averaged out the entire NFL, 90% of plays over 30 yards have come against the blitz as well.

But if I was the coach for one game,, I would use more line stunts on D,, I would move Ware around. I would use the flats more in the passing game with the backs, and If i was backed up inside the one.. iw ould not call a trap play that takes 2-3 seconds to develop.. worst call of the year so far.

That's because the majority of our blitz 'packages' are too easy to read... We don't disguise them well enough... And while sacks is an over-rated stat, there is as Yakuza put it, a direct correlation between sacks and pressure. The more pressure you put on the quarterback, the more likely you will come away with a sack.

I hear this a lot about disguising blitz packages.. that has to be the most over used term in all of football. You can't really disguise anything. I mean, you want to send a blitzer in from the sidelines or something? Maybe drop one in from the sky cam? The key to the blitz is timing and design.. not disguise. When we played philly,, where you shocked at any of their blitzes? I saw everyone of them coming, who was goign to come and from where.. they just executed them and we didn't.

I know football is different than all other sports...but before big pitches with the bases loaded their is a huddle on the mound...before big FTs sometime guys huddle at the FT line....with so much riding on one play...I can never understand why football coaches don't bring everyone over to the sideline for a quick 10 second huddle to stress the importance of focus on a big kick...you would think you could trust guys to make sure everyone is blocked...but as a head coach I would leave nothing to chance.

We pay 2M for a kicker for MOEMENTS JUST LIKE THIS...and he does not even get a chance to kick the d*amn thing

People criticize Jerry a lot...but he has opened his checkbook...he has turned over his draft room...he has paid for a kicker for once in his entire time of ownership...he has given money to LBers...and lastly he is paying a head coach a **** load of money....AND HE DESERVES BETTER THAN THIS

It is one thing to get ran over attempting to block someone...but we just don't even block the guy.....I really hate to say it...but I said it last year after we lost to Washington in Dallas...I said it would cost us our season...and I hate to say it again, but I really think this is going to cost us...OF COURSE I HOPE I AM WRONG..but I can see us going 9-7 and missing the playoffs by 1 game

Probably what most of it has to do with is that most teams Olines can pick up the blitz better than our Oline, so there is always a comparison of how well the opposing teams blitzes do as opposed to our own!

IMO I think the TRUST factor has broken down on this Team....The coaches are doubting the players capabilities, the Players are doubting each other or the play calling, and i really think thats what put Bledsoe on the bench. Coaches calls for one play and they run another ...there's is hope and it rest on ROMO's shoulders......there is Hope
But again I would bring LT, Sanders and Woodson in to fire this team up for the colts...good motivational move again just my 2cents

Teamwork and motivation is what this team needs

Actually you do disguise blitzes... Linebackers approach the line, pretending they are going to blitz, and drop back in coverage... While this linebacker threatens a blitz, you may send a corner in from the other side...

The key to the blitz is timing and design

I never debated timing... And how is designing anything different from disguise? You keep the offense guessing where the blitz is coming from... And that includes disguising...

1. I would either turn Zimmer loose to be creative and frequent with his methods of applying pressure at game time...one of the best things about mixing it up more is you then surprise the offense just as much by walking up and then going back after the QB audibles...or I'd bring in another DC if it's Zimmer and not Parcells...lots of pressure from safeties and LB's, but keeping a cushion to avoid the big play even if it means first downs when the pressure isn't effective.

Go back to the old "Bend but Don't Break" philosophy.

2. I'd be thinking about bringing Watkins back instead of Coleman in passing situations with the caveat that he must go after the ball aggressively...let him share the position with Davis so he's thinking pass and less likely to get screwed trying to play the run aggressively.

3. In a game like we had in Washington Sunday, I'd have had Newman returning most of those punts, and I'd find someone to put back there on KR's.

4. I'd sacrifice someone on game day to have a kickoff specialist this year.

5. I'd be playing more 4 man lines on defense in passing situations with Ellis and Spears at DE, Ratliff and Hatcher at DT, and I'd still bring Ware from LB from time to time.

Right now I think one of our biggest problems is no one in the front 3 gets a push in the middle...we really need to bull rush and push that OL back in the QB's face a little. I'm not convinced we have the players to do it with though.

6. I love JJ, but I would definitely be running Barber more than he is in the first half and even in the 3rd quarter...Right now, JJ loosens things up for Barber to bring the power later...I'd reverse that and pound Barber a little more often early and then, after tightening the defense, I'd bring JJ's quicks more in the 2nd half, looking for more plays....I think Barber's grinding would make JJ better and slow down the pass rush a little.

7. I'd really like to see more of Hurd and Miles Austin from time to time, but I guess I have to trust that the coaches know Crayton is better...I find it hard to believe though.

No... Bledsoe got benched because he sucked... seriously... have you been watching Romo and just how much better he is playing, and avoiding the rush... have you seen how much better the O-Line is playing with Romo in..

Bledsoe is done, unless Romo gets injured... nobody is going to pick Bledsoe up, unless as a back-up.. And Bledsoe does not want to be a back-up...

Hey that all sounds good to me. I would have to do one thing though if I were coach for a day. GROZ!!!!!! And pay Butch Davis a crap load of money to come fix this thing.

I would put Al Johnson in at C at Gurode at RG. Maybe this could be better than Gurode at C and Rivera at RG.
