...............Follow me to the promise land.
This isn't a thread about what I think I know or what I hope I know.
It's about what I know I know.
And since I'm a nice guy I'll share what I know with all of you.
The Dallas Cowboys are winning Super Bowl 44.
If you agree with me, then enjoy reading my OP.
If you don't. If you think this is a .500 team, then I suggest you read it twice.
All championship teams start with great management. And this year's Superbowl Champion Cowboys take a back seat to no team in this department.
Who could want or hope for a better FO than we have. Jones is the best owner in all of sports. For those who believe Jones should just hire a GM don't understand the nature of his involvement with respect to personal decisions.
Jones doesn't watch game film of pro or college personal. His director of college and pro talent, his scouts and his coaches do this.
They compile the data, make the evaluations and present their finding to Jones. Jones makes the final call. But it's not really his call. It's simply based on the info that's presented to him.
If that's the case, why do it this way? Because Jerry and in recent seasons his son Steven's involvement make them more qualified to judge our talent evaluators.
Anyone doubt our FO? Go back and look at the drafts, RFA and FA signings of the 2007, 08 and 09 seasons. Then show me the teams that have done it better.
Coaching. I have complete confidence in this staff. Wade has 20 plus years experience. He is a credible and successful head coach. He's a defense genious and the second he leaves the Cowboys he will have his choice of DC jobs. That alone makes him a valuable comodity to the Cowboys.
For those of you who believe he's a lousy HC. That he's stupid, soft or imcompitent, I have one question.......Show me the player complaint. Show me the one article that made reference to even an anonomys player complaint.
And this isn't about him being too easy on players and letting them do whatever they want. If that were the case, we'd have players brought up under Parcels complaining.
Quarterback: You don't need a great QB to win a chamoinship, but it does make it easier. And when you're evaluating SB contenders the teams with one always to top the list.
And we have one. Romo is a great QB. Their is too much evidence over the past 3 years to make a credible arguement against this simple fact.
And for those of you who still think he takes too many chances or is too inconisistant, consider this. Since 2006, the Cowboys have not lost a single game Romo has started to a team with a losing record.
Offensive Skill Positions: Witten may be are only legit All-Pro. But if you have any questions or doubts about this group, ask yourself two questions.
How many teams have 2 legit All-Pro players amoung their skill players?
How many teams would you trade the Cowboys skills players for?
Offensive Line: Would I like a little more proven depth? Yes. Would I like a little more youth? Yes. Do I wish I knew Adams will remain healthy and play at a Pro-Bowl Level? Yes.
Do I wish we had a more talented, more proven offensive line? No
If you have legit concerns about or O-line, please list the teams with a better unit.
Defense: Defensive football in 2009 is mostly about defending the pass. And the success of any defense in todays game is more about coaching and effective defensive stratgey than ever.
The Cowboys have the league's best inside and outside pass rushers. No other team in football can make that claim.
No team from the jump, regardless of coaching or schemes, is better equiped to get after the QB on talent alone.
Now add to that talent a great DC who may be 2nd to one guy in Boston.
Defensive Secondary: I can't prove how good I believe this unit will be. Newman, Jenkins and Scandrick. This group has a lot of inexperience and recent injury history. I can't dimiss that. But I know what Newman can do. And I know when I'm certain young players can play. I'm certain Jenkins and Scandick can play. I believe by years end this trio will be viewed as one of the best.
I haven't felt this good about our entire secondary since 1994.
When I evaluate a team, I look for two things: Liabilities and elite players.
Liabilities or weak spots. We don't have any. I can't imagine an opposing OC or DC looking at us and licking his chops. And finding one or more obvious weak spots they'll exploit with this week's game plan.
That's great, but it's not enough to win many more games than you lose. The NFL is a tough league with few push overs. The other guys get paid to.
To win 8 or even 10 more games than you lose, you have to have elite players.
Romo, Ware, Ratliff, Newman and I think Felix Jones are elite players.
