If you had a choice, would you take Shanahan this year or...

We need someone that won't take any bull****.

Now, we have all seen what Shannahan can do as a General manager... he knows nothing of picking defensive players. As far as offense goes, however, he is a mastermind in my opinion. And he is a strong-minded coach.

Cowher is just a strong minded coach, I think he has benefited from having AMAZING coordinators on both sides of the ball. That being said he still knows what he is doing.

I would pick Shannahan over Cowher any day of the year.

In other words, is it worth putting up with another year of the fist pumper to get Cowher? Or would you be willing to throw in the towel now and take Shanahan?

Rat this year. Done deal.

Another thread with Cowher as a head coach option.

Cowher is not a option. He was a coach of the hated steelers who lost to the Cowboys in superbowl in 95....

Cowher will not come here. He wants complete autonomy. That won't happen so long as Jerry is still owner AND GM.

You REALLY don't understand Jerry Jones, do you?

Anyway, Cowher basically implied that he would take himself out of a head coaching offer from Jones because of Owens, so you get your way in the end anyway. ;)

I, personally, don't think this excludes Cowher from the picture.

Nah. I'm just speculating with regard to your part about how "Cowher basically implied that he would take himself out of a head coaching offer from Jones because of Owens".

Just so you understood me correctly since my response wasn't very clear... I think Cowher would come if Jerry accepted his stipulations regarding any player on the team including TO.

That said, I have said it many times in the last week and I will say it again... If Jerry announced tomorrow that Bill Cowher will be the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys and then Cowher let's TO go, I would wish TO well. He did well while he was here but it would be time to move beyond the pillsbury doughboy era. Getting rid of Wade (or reducing his role to DC) is far more important to me than anything having to do with TO.

I'm not doubting your personal stance. I'm doubting that Jerry Jones would adhere to that one condition. I apologize if that came across differently.

Cowher is not coming here ever.

Totally agree. Cowher wants access to certain things in running a team and even if he got them Jerry would be meddling. Cowher wouldn't have it or put up with it.

If Cowher was going to come back this year (and i doubt it because I just dont see the fire in his belly right now) the only thing keeping him from going to Denver would be the distance from his daughters. Otherwise, the weather, great owner and overall Denver setup would fit his style. Question is, does he feel like building from scratch or does he want certain positions already in place.

I'd like Shanny if we could get him. I've always thought he was smart, disciplined and a class act. I guess we'll see what happens.

I am hopeful Jerry has one small iota of thought left in him and is considering it. That hope keeps me from breaking out in one huge "TO: That's my QB" cry. :)

Rat or Spitter. I'll take either one in a heartbeat.

What makes anyone think any of these men would WANT to come to Dallas?

What fight and heart does the team show - that all they need is a tweak of a scheme?

This looks like a reclamation project - it is personalities that run the franchise, stubborn or stupid, it's just personalities, not football minds. They don't even appear to be a team on the highlights.

I would go with Shanahan because he is just a better fit for this team than Cowher would be. Shanahan will get a lot more out of Romo than Cowher could. Cowher is a great coach, but Shanahan is just a better fit.

There are not many coaches that warrant the genius label. And by genius, we are talking about true intellectuals who can draw up plays and exploit weaknesses. Shanahan is one of those geniuses. And there are not many of these geniuses on the offensive side of the ball. If you have a chance to acquire him, you get him.

Cowher is a great coach but much of his success can be attributed to the Steelers organization. For example, it would not suprise me if Cowher went to another team and completely flopped because he is essentially a motivator and manager.

Furthermore, I think Shanahan would work well with Jerry. Both men are offensively ambitious and would gamble to generate great offense. Jerry and Shanahan like to take chances on certain offensive players. I think it would work.
