Enter Tom Brady.

4 TD and 2 INT through 4 games. And this is with a team heralded to have better WR's than last year.

Check out his QB Ratings over the last 5 years:

2010: 111.0
2011: 105.6
2012: 98.7
2013: 87.3
2014: 79.1

That is straight decline for 5 years...every season he has gotten worse.

Meanwhile, Tony is playing at the same level/slightly getting better. In other words, Tony still has years left to play if he wants.

Seems to me like Brady has been dicked by the Patriots the last couple of years. He's too classy to blow them up in front of the media.

Oh yea. They really went cheap in the wide receiver positions since Moss left.

Granted they had a badass TE duo, but one was a "gangsta" and the other is related to Sean Lee.

Brady is on the decline though. Funny thing is that they still might win the division with Buffalo starting Orton, Jets just suck, and Miami's offense sucks.

I watch them a lot, living here in Florida. Tannehill is inconsistent. His pocket presence is low and his accuracy is supbar on the deep ball. His receivers are leading the league in dropped passes and the offensive line has some good pieces with some subpar talent on it.

Maybe when they get guys like Pouncey, Reshad Jones, Dion Jordan, and some injured guys back, they'll be better but I don't see them doing better than 8-8.

I think Philbin has one foot out the door and they might be drafting another QB next year.

Either he is in decline or he is surrounded by trash, i'm gonna go with the latter.

Do you watch Patriot games or ESPN? Cause this is exactly how people think Romo sucks, cause he had what Brady has now.

his team isnt much different than the last couple of years...so 2 years ago he was fine with trash but now he isnt? Its the brady decline.

Brocephus.. 2 years ago brady had welker, gronkowski, & hernandez for most of the year. And his o-line has declined for whatever reasons.

If you forget....we're told brady is so good he makes the WR's good and doesnt need good WR's....but his WR corps today still isnt completely horrible. They are serviceable guys.

We are seeing more of that from teams with offenses designed to use pick routes and pivot routes with small WR's that are quick, but not fast and don't stretch the field vertically.

I'm seeing league wide a lot of zone coverage and they are packing in between the numbers. It creates a lot of traffic for those WR's to get thru so they can be bumped off their route or if they do get a pick play going...there's enough traffic for somebody to make the tackle.

It doesn't help the running game much either unless you can get the stretch running plays going. And the QB doesn't have much for explosive plays because he has nobody that can consistently beat coverage deep.

It also didn't help that they shipped Mankins off (you can thank Robert Kraft for that) and even if they want to throw deep, Brady doesn't get the time to do so. He's declined for sure, but if you look at across the league, I think it's more of a function of defenses figuring out how to stop those pick plays and pivot routes and those offenses being so geared for that scheme that they don't have a Plan B.

Oh well. They have the guy in place to develop while Tom goes on a 2 year farewell tour.

He can go on Giselle's modeling jobs & babysit while she's making the family millions.

Tom will be fine.

This is a lot more about the decline of the talent around him than anything else.

Yes he's declining to some degree himself, naturally, as all athletes do but what you're seeing is a lot more about the decline of the talent around him and their inability to replace that talent around him.

As good as he is Brady has always folded under a persistent pass rush.

Age creeping up + weak O-line = Long year for Mr Brady.

I think it's a bit of both. I mean, Payton isn't the same QB he was 5 years ago either. It is what it is. Time eventually catches everybody but if you look at what Denver has done to help Manning, that's a good indicator of what Brady's career could look like, going forward, if he were in a similar situation. Brady, even in a reduced physical state, is better then 95% of the QBs in the NFL today. You can win with Brady at QB if you help him. Problem is, NE has lived with the idea whole high tide raises all boats idea with Brady that now, they are in a bad situation because Brady needs help going forward. You have to be able to help him with skilled positions. At the very least, you need to get him some OLs who can play. If you do nothing else, you gotta keep him protected. If you can just do that, he's good for 8 wins IMO.

This is all true. I was listening to a discussion on Brady the other day and they were saying that Brady is as good as anybody in the NFL in his progressions but because of the Pats inability to protect him, he's being forced to run a two read offense. That's why you only see him going to two receivers or his backs so much. His read has to be right now so it's really only the first two reads or the safety valve. Seriously limits their offense.

If Fly were still around (SHADDUP! :D) he'd be asking this week:

Hey, didn't you used to be Tom Brady?

Yeah, when Edleman is your number one, Amedola the walking injury your number two, and Gronk being the TE version of Sean Lee, something has to give. Bellicheat can't work that magic anymore.
