If you were drafted into the NFL by another team...

Being the die-hard Cowboys fan that you are, what would you do if you were a rookie that just got drafted into the NFL by a team other than the Cowboys. How would you handle it? Even worse yet, what if you were drafted by a team in the NFC East? Would you still do your job and quietly root for the Cowboys? What if you were in a position against the Cowboys, in the NFC Championship, game on the line, Dallas is up by 3 with 10 seconds left, and the game will fall in your hands with a chance to win for your team. Would you go for the victory, or let "unfortunate fate" allow the Cowboys a trip to the Super Bowl?

Just curious to hear everyones thoughts.

anyone can say whatever they want. no man in their right mind would put their personal success on the backburner.

Anyone with any moral fiber at all would do his best to beat the Cowboys as much as that would suck. Your team mates would be counting on you.

If I'm getting paid to do a job, I do it. It wouldn't even cross my mind to try and underperform.....

I'd insult every Owner, GM, Personnel man, etc. in the league before the draft (except for Jerry). Of course, I'd lose money being an undrafted free agent!

I would not sign, I would either wait till the next draft, or wait till the next draft, and while I was waiting I would be getting as close as I can to the Cowboys brass. Probably would not even take a chance in the following year's draft, just wait until the Boys had tryouts and make the team that way.

But if you think about it, you would be betraying what you love as well for the money.

It would suck like Hell, though, especially if it were the Commanders. I tell you what though, I would hire Rosenhaus to make sure I could get every penny out of Snyder that I could.

I'd play lights out against the Boys, so that when I was up for free agency, I'd sign a poison-pill contract with the Cowboys to help the Boys and myself as well as screwing my original team (with gratitude and a smile, of course).

I wouldn't take that approach because you might pissed off even Jerry and wouldn't get drafted because you would be viewed as a malcontent. The best thing to do would be to sign, play for 4 years and hope to become a free agent.

Funny thing you brought that up because Canty is one of the players that inspired me to make this thread. Everyone knows that he is a Giants fan and I bet the reason Dallas didn't try and re-sign him was because the Cowboys knew he didn't want to be here. Same with Burnett. If I recall, he said that he grew up a Commanders fan when he was first drafted. He didn't get any offer from Dallas either.

The only team I would not want to be drafted by is the Commanders. I consider that franchise to be racist and I would not want to play there under any circumstance. I would have alerted them ahead of time to my feelings as I think that is the honorable thing to do.

My goal to play in the NFL would make just about any other franchise palatable just to reach a dream.

Zach Thomas managed a great career. Others have too. I might not like being drafted by many other teams, but it would not have changed my goals.

I didn't know canty was a giants fan until I saw the video. Any evidence of that schmo Canty underachieving vs the gspots?

Thats what I would do, something along those lines, i would let the eagles, the giants and Commanders know i dont like them and i wouldnt play for them at all. In fact in tryouts, I would like fake a hamstring or something when other teams are looking at me. Yet, when I ran for the cowboys in tryouts, I would give it my all.

I would play as hard as i could in college games to get the experience, etc against other top notch players, learning schemes etc, but I would only show good times, weight lifting for the cowboys. In fact, say I got invited to combine, I would do less, but ask privately for a workout for the cowboys.

I was saying it in jest, because I'd actually be honored to play for any team that took the time to scout and draft me, but I'd get back to Dallas ASAP.

Oh, and I'd be better for my team than Canty was here. :laugh2:

I'd immediately become a fan of the team that drafted me. I love the Cowboys but if a team drafted me my loyalty would have to go there cause they're giving me money to live out a dream.
