If you were drafted into the NFL by another team...

If I was in any kind of position to (think Eli Manning), I would try to "manuever" myself to the Cowboys in the draft. Maybe even leak tha i failed a drug test but let Dallas know why I'm doing it.

If I was just some guy with no bargaining power and I got drafted by another team, I would play hard for them because those would be "my guys" and "my team". If I ever hit free agency I would tell my agent to call Dallas and only Dallas first.

With my luck, I would have gone to the Commanders and become a career Commander like Darrell Green or Art Monk :ralph:

Id still give it 110%. As soon as I became a FA, Dallas would get a minor discount.

Wow...a scenario that I have thought about as well.

I would of course hope that they won every game that we played them in.

Would I do anything to "help" them win? The competitiveness in me wouldn't allow it.

I would still be their biggest fan whether I played on another team or not. I would do anything in my power to get traded to them....that's for sure.

I would sign a shorter deal 2-3 years and play my heart out for that span, and then hope Dallas needs me. I'd take a paycut to play for them. If not, I play for the team that offers me the most money and a starting role.

That question is mute for me. The Cowboys would lose all 16 the previous season to get the number one draft pick to secure me as their number one pick as the highest-paid player ever in NFL history...

You guys are all full of it, it's ridiculous. You'd all be so happy to be drafted, you'd do whatever it took to be on any team and perform like hell. Plenty of diehard fans of teams have faced this exact situation -- actually probably most every player ever drafted has faced this in some form or fashion. You'd play for who drafted you. You'd just be happy to be there. Washington or Philly included. Fandom is fandom. Nobody's going to mortgage their future to cheer for a team.

It's easy to do the "noble" thing in a ridiculous hypothetical situation that hasn't a shot in hell of ever coming true. Check this out...if I won powerball, I'd donate 100% to The Children's Hunger Fund. See?

And, newsflash...if you're 'tanking it' in tryouts or combines or whatever, Dallas won't want a piece of you, either.

In my first press conference (if I have one) I'd tell Jerry on TV he screwed up by not picking me, surprise, surprise! Then I'd go out and beat his team's butt the first chance I got!

Or maybe I'd just pull a Eli Manning.:D

Funny thing you brought that up because Canty is one of the players that inspired me to make this thread. Everyone knows that he is a Giants fan and I bet the reason Dallas didn't try and re-sign him was because the Cowboys knew he didn't want to be here. Same with Burnett. If I recall, he said that he grew up a Commanders fan when he was first drafted. He didn't get any offer from Dallas either.

Burnett was a 9er fan, which is almost as bad.

If I were draft-eligible, I'd specifically let the Skins know to pass on me. Both in principal and b/c I don't respect the management of that team in the slightest. I do like Zorn, though I think he's over his head. Anyone else would be fair game, and I'd work my tail off to get to Dallas on my second contract.

Being the die-hard Cowboys fan that you are, what would you do if you were a rookie that just got drafted into the NFL by a team other than the Cowboys. How would you handle it?

That's easy-- if the Boys didn't draft me, I'd go with MLB instead...

Or maybe hit the PGA Tour... I'm too short to seriously consider the NBA... :D

I'd insult every Owner, GM, Personnel man, etc. in the league before the draft (except for Jerry). Of course, I'd lose money being an undrafted free agent!

I'd suggest exposing yourself during the interviews at the Combine...

That always worked for me... :D
