how would you rate jones the GM?

i don't want to debate his past stupidity - we'll be here forever. but so many have said things like.

1. jones will never learn
2. jones will never hire a real coach
3. it was not jones it was xyz...

and on all counts there was reason to say that *at the time*.

but - a GM has to make calls in good and bad situations.

your HOF coach quits. all the obvious superstar coaches are on hiatus this year. what do you do?

my question isn't jones over his career - but this last year. how well did jones put this team together after parcells left?

Signing Davis = A+
Signing Hamlin = A+
Re-signing Romo = A+
Re-signing Colombo = A+
Hiring Wade = A+
Hiring Garrett = A+
Hiring Ray Sherman = A+
Drafting Spencer = A+
Trading with Cleveland = A+
Handling Ellis' Contract = A+

Wow. What else? I'm sure I'm missing something.

It is hard to argue with the results, Jerry pulled all the right strings.

I think our improvement these last few years have been the result of a good scouting department under Jeff Ireland.

This year though? Jerry has been batting a thousand.

so to maybe further this a bit - how much of this experience he's using now come from past mistakes?

jones won't ever get 100% buy in - some people just live to hate and targets never change. but has jones learned over the years and how has that translated to this years success?

btw, I'll never get voted off this site as long as I keep pushing the zone money and keep sucking up to the mods ;)

I must have like 10,000 brownie points

So far so good!

I've said before that if the Cowboys win a playoff game this season then I'll start a thread after the season apologizing to Jethro and some of the folks on this board and give Jethro total credit and have myself a big crow buffet and I'll eat it with a smile!:) But not before the Cowboys win a playoff game.

If the Cowboys win the Superbowl this year or next I'll buy in to Jerry 100%, for this era as far as being a top notch GM and acknowledge that he has learned, which I already think he has some. But I'll always believe Jimmy was the primary orchestraetor of the 90s dynasty and my mind will never be changed on that.

In my eyes, Jerry has been doing everything right since the day he made the decision to hire Parcells. I think this year is just the culmination of the previous 4 and it has all just come together perfectly.

I'll give Parcells a great deal of the credit for the current roster. But it was Jerry who hired Him, so he definitely deserves a large share of the credit.

Jerry Jones is one of the best owners in all of sports. We're lucky to have him IMO.
