If you were Rod, what would you do to get Taco going?

Life is tough. Somehow you just gotta find a way to soldier on.
People make fun of me because when I go to places I know I'm going to be stuck for a while... I carry a canvas bag with, not only my diabetic supplies, but also... BOOKS!
Yes... I carry books on me when I leave the house. They call it a man bag... I think it's bad bootymaker.

Ouch! There's an outside chance that Collins alone will develop into Donald's equal. He's obviously not there yet but he's not fully developed as a player either. You're throwing in two solid rotational guys that'll get you 10 sacks between them (roughly what Donald will get you), a rookie with 8-10 sack upside and another first rounder too? I love Donald but that's way too rich for my blood.

Outside chance that Malik becomes the best interior defender in the game???

Now who's being unrealistic?

The solution is to let the rookie play and develop and then see what you have a year or so from now.

Exciting plan I know.

That's not a plan to win championships. Exciting or not, it's a poor plan.

I love Rod, but in my mind Tapper should be in the rotation more than Taco. It could be that they want to limit Tapper's snaps from a physical standpoint. I think Taco should come in toward 4th quarter when Oline starts to wear down. Get those fresh, young legs going and let him use his quicks. We are going to have a DYNAMITE rotation when Moore and Irving gets back!
I would get a tape of every play Charles Haley ever made and !et him take it home to study.

Then quiz him and keep going.

Then Too Talll Jones..

..then Bob Lilly.

If he hasn't improved after that..

I would demote him to 2nd string until he does improve.

That should help.

We don't have time to coddle him right now.

We needs to play mean and grow up fast.

An outside chance, yeah.

You think a guy who came in as a rookie and put up five sacks at the DT position without the benefit of a training camp has absolutely no shot at being a 12 sack guy that forces the opposition to scheme for him?

Not something I'd bet mortgage money on. It's a long shot. But it wouldn't be all that shocking if it happened.

Developing your 1st rounders isn't a plan to win a championship?

Sure it is, but 2 low first rounders for the best interior defender in the league is a great trade because Cowboys want to win THIS season not hope to be in contention to win several years from now.

And Donald is not some over the hill player, he's in his prime and a proven dominator while late 1st rounders are known to bust or never reach their potential especially defensive players.

Again, long shot vs. best DT in the game, don't understand all the constipation here.

Fantasy football. Let's flip half our defensive lineman and a first rounder or two for a single player. Then let's fill out the team with street free agents and practice squad players.

This isn't how you build a team. It isn't even close to how you build a championship.

I think Maliek's realistic upside is "Donald Light". Maybe not 12-15 sacks, but 8-10. Maybe doesn't beat double-teams consistently, but consistently draws them and wins his share, meanwhile freeing up the guys around him to make plays.

I see no reason Maliek can't reach that upside and think he's on his way, in fact.

Then you're asking me to throw in all those other assets. Yeah, I start to clamp up a bit.

Maliek is one of the few guys who can give Martin trouble, and he's just now entering his 2nd year. He's a great talent.

If he keeps developing he'll be a fixture at the 3T and make a couple of Pro Bowls.

3rd round pick and will be a part of this line for a long time. Great pick.

Fill out team w/street FAs??? Not sure you realize who's on this team because you,are just quick to dismiss trades.

Even without Taco-Maliek-Crawford the roster would still be the following:

Lawrence-Donald-Paea-Moore

And depth would consist of Irving, Tapper, Price, Elliott with "street FAs" consisting of Ware and Neal. Hardly call that "filled".

With all respect...Maybe its best you don't try to speak for other people.

With all respect Miss Cleo.. I apologize. I guess I underestimated someone actually predicting TJ Watts first game: 2scks, 1 ints, 5 tackles

Because of course he broke records in college.. oh wait.. the TE turned 3-4 LB with a history of knee concerns and didn't record one sack against bigger programs like LSU, Nebraska, Illinois, and Ohio st. Yet, you knew. Please.

..Maybe it's best you don't let your ego speak for you.

Maybe no one expected Watt's exact first game results but there were quite a few who advocated for Watt instead of Taco because his upside was higher and his athletism/game was better fit for RDE in our D.

Great talent=Aaron Donald

Great Potential=Maliek Collins

Collins is a good player and even get a pro bowl or 2 one day, maybe (plays same position as Fletcher Cox, Gerald McCoy, Sheldon Richardson and the GOAT Aaron Donald).

Aaron Donald demands doubles and game planning, he makes everyone around him much better rushing passers-by and against the run. Maliek not even close to that level yet.

Five DE's drafted before Charlton. With the exception of Garrett, who was hurt, the other four had at least htwo combined tackles and assists.

Even most of the guys DE's drafted under him did something in week #1. But for Charlton to have that many downs and draw a 0 in every category.......

If he was special he would have showed us somerhing....anything....

Welll, if he isn't special let's see of he is capable of making some type of contribution. I mean, one of the Giants weaknesses was supposed to be their OT's. We saw what Tapper and Lawrence did, but not even one assisted tackle from Charlton.

I haven't given up ion him, heck, it's just one game, but it does mean he has to make this up somehow for his draft position to be justified.

If Taco puts up zeros again tomorrow, I will start to get concerned. He is going to be a work in progress but it is time to show something.......
