Doug Free is s must re - sign .

We have nobody on this team including Parnell that has his game.

He's become a nasty player and is the vocal leader of that group.

I see a 3 mill year player. If he wants to sign for that fine, otherwise I'll take my chances with Parnell or a pick.

That's probably the neighborhood we're living in with Free. I think there's a good chance he signs a reasonable extension to stay in Dallas, given the good things we've got going on right now. It's a good time to be a Cowboys OL. If anther team doesn't just blow that out of the water. I'm not sure any team would, either, given Free's relative age and his overall game. He's a good fit for us, though.

Given that he took a paycut before I think they can work something out. I mean to say that I expect reasonable negotiations

Put it this way, draft is loaded at guard this year. You can always slide Martin one over to the right. That is why Martin was a dream pick, he gives you options everywhere.

I like Martin at guard. We could draft a RT in the draft instead (maybe 2nd round)

Not for too much money. Parnell will be fine if he wants too much money

Exactly. Parnell was fine when Free was out and the difference in salary between the two will give you 2 or 3 Jerome Mincey types. And Parnell still has a lot of upside, give him an entire training camp to settle in and he could be better than Free (who I'm still not that sold on).

I think that was the team's original thoughts but Martin's play at RG has likely changed their thinking. Broaddus has claimed as much.

Yeah, I don't know if I want to mess with moving Martin. He's too good where he's at. If it was LT and Martin could play it well, sure...but not at RT. That's an easier position to fill.
