Shouldn't we at least wait until Dak throws an interception or two? I mean, if he's interceptionless, why would we mess with an 8 game interception-free run?
I've been in the "Romo should start" crowd for a while, but I'm willing to stay on the Dak wagon until he acts a little more like a rookie, and less like a QB-in-his-prime.
I'm not going be too upset either way.
But I do think people are way overrating zero picks. It is a fabulous feat, yes. In context.
If the offense is averaging 30 ppg and/or we're getting 3 TD passes a game to go with the rushing, then no picks is a real and much more difficult feat.
I mean, if I drive an Indy car around the track and stay in the pack, I'm maybe never going to get in a wreck...and I'll finish ahead of maybe 2/3 of the field. But I'll have no chance of ultimately winning the race. Zero picks or not, you're not winning a title with 0.6 passing TDs per game.
It's never been done. If it had, it'd be with an otherworldly defense.
To Dak's credit (and an argument against those wanting to be more risky)...he hasn't had to do that so far to win.
So why do it?
The time will come though when we get a shoot-out, fall behind, and have to press the issue.
For all we know, he may still do great then as well. We just don't know yet.
