JJ is not getting it done. I'm sorry but I have waited all season for him to perform. He was gonig to perform when:

- We got past this great D that shut him down
- He got back from his ankle
- In the second half
- When the OL blocked well

You know what? MB III has performed much better and he is running against the same D and with the same OL as JJ. Simply JJ is not getting it done. He may be a one trick pony. I remember last year a couple of announcers pointing out that he got almost all of his big yards on a single play that we were running. Well in the NFL if you can't get yards on all of the plays, against all types of D, then you get exposed and game planned for. Until he proves otherwise I say he is what he is. A young back that can occasionally pick up big yards in certain circumstances. Not a stud young back that can carry a team!

I'm not a person who comes on this board and flames players but on this one I'm calling it as I see it. I'm actually pleased that we were competitive yesterday so I'm not venting about the Denver loss. It hurts, sure, but man could you imagine us playing that game last year? Can you say blow out?

Julius Jones needs the offensive line to block. They didn't do it very well yesterday.

That is the easy out! MB also needs the offensive line to block and he played better. MB isn't supposed to be the stud in this offense but he is playing better. It says something about JJ!

well, I guess you need to go back to not flaming players...because until you (and numerous others) realize that the OL isnt opening any holes for anyone and that there really isnt much difference between 3.5 and 3.8 yds per carry, you really wont find alot of support

the fact is we're averaging 3.4 yds per rush as a team, thats just freaking dreadful and a clear indicator of what the big problem is...Barber's best game this yr was against the 26th rated defense in the NFL...Barber has more fumbles in alot less carries than Jones has, and that was with a couple of questionable fumbles ruled down by contact

I remember when Emmitt started slipping and Cowboys fans were all over each other trying to justify his lower yardage. It was everyone's fault but Emmitt's decling skills. Same for Eddie in his first few games last year. Not saying the offensive line doesn't deserve a lot of blame, but sometimes you gotta point the finger at the runner too. The good news is Julius is still very young, so most of it could be on the oline. I'm a little disturbed, though, that Barber has looked better in most of his playing time, even when he was getting starter minutes.

I'm not saying that the OL is great! the point is that last years OL wasn't good either. In a system where he got huge holes I'm sure his explosiveness will be a beautiful thing to exploit. But we have what we have and you have to be able to run on the team your on. I would swap the amount of carries and give MB the most until JJ shows he is back and can pick up yards with this OL. I would rather have a hard nose runner in there if the lanes are not there for JJ to get through. He doesn't seem to be able to pick up the tough yards and that is what is available right now. I just feel alot more confident in MB right now and I would have never thought that at the beggining of the year.

Our oline does need some serious upgrades in the offseason and is mostly to blame for our lack-there-of running game this year, but so is JJ. He just doesn't show that burst he had last year. When the wall comes tho, I love how MBIII plows through it! Endzone, first down marker, or just simply the end of the line as far as an individual play goes, he hits it hard and with force, driving forward. The guy does not go down easy. Also been much more pleased with his ability to block and protect our quarterback.

During Training Camp we were all marvelling at how buff Julius had got in the off season. He worked out hard.

I think he worked out too hard and put on too much bulk. He doesn't have the explosion he had last year.

That is an interesting point. Guys that are exposive and guys who are bruisers have different shapes and weight. Yesterday the announcer said "BP said to Key, you are a girraffe, not a gazelle, stop trying to be something that you are not". Well maybe JJ tried bulking up like a bruising back and not like the explosive back he was last year. I hope whatever it is, the Cowboys work with him in the off season to correct it.

Agree. I think the same thing happened to Jamal Lewis this year. Although it could also be the crack...

This year OL is more geared towards pass blocking then run blocking. Think about it.

We are soft in the middle and rookie RT that hears protecting Drew as his #1 priority. So you could imagine what techniques he studies and practices. Marco, well he is what he is.

I wish someone would tell Sean Payton and Bill Parcells this. We aren't running well, but we are passing very well. I think we should use the pass to set up the run, not the other way around. Take off the brakes Bill.

No problem, all you have to do is touch him and he'll collapse for zero gain.

I really havent seen much passing success here the past few games Hos

the pass protection is just as bad as the run blocking is...we avoiding alot more sacks for two reasons 1) Bledsoe is throwing alot of balls away or short underneath and 2) we are holding 2 or 3 extra guys into block on alot of plays

I actually think it's a combination of the two.

I think JJ is hurt still and thus, not playing like he did last year and there is NO QUESTION the OL is runblocking horribly, all of them.

I agree, but I think it's not because of the talent assembled as much as it is because of the game plan/plan of attack.

Hey I'm not saying that JJ couldn't kill me :D Just that it's not only the OL. This is a point to the board. I suspect JJ could care less how I feel. I'm just tired of the endless set of "just wait until.....". Because he played so well last year we all just expect him to turn the corner any day. He may turn it around but I think his struggling is just as much part of the problem as the OL is.
