During Training Camp we were all marvelling at how buff Julius had got in the off season. He worked out hard.

I think he worked out too hard and put on too much bulk. He doesn't have the explosion he had last year.

JMO
exactly. Parcells screwed this kid up , Did anybody else see him tap his helmet

yesterday

The few big runs Barber has had have been through holes you could drive a mack truck through. I do like Barber at the goal line though because I think he twists and tries harder to get the extra yards. His fumbles are getting scary though.

Bottom line is that we have IMHO two fine young RB's. I don't care which one starts or which one finishes. I don't care who scores the touchdowns. Just be effective. Right now neither one has a very good average and I think the OL has to take responsibility for that.

I'll take JJ anytime but truth be told, neither can run with the poor OLINE we have. Any back needs a decent OLINE to get yards. People say Barry Sanders did it without a good OLINE, thats so WRONG. Is OLINE was decent, not outstanding but decent. Besides, Sanders was UNIQUE. Not many RB's could do what he did. Our OLINE is terrible at run blocking. There are ABSOLUTELY no running lanes for JJ or MB3. It all starts up front.

That is the easy out! MB also needs the offensive line to block and he played better. MB isn't supposed to be the stud in this offense but he is playing better. It says something about JJ!

Both have had rather pedestrian games. Besides Arizona, who have a bad run D, neither of them have played that great. Barber is a better short yardage back, hence the TD production...It's on the O-Line, these guys get hit at or behind the LOS way too often. It's hard when ur a back and you have to make a move right when u get the ball. Both have done a decent job of this.

JJ is not getting it done. I'm sorry but I have waited all season for him to perform. He was gonig to perform when:

- We got past this great D that shut him down
- He got back from his ankle
- In the second half
- When the OL blocked well

You know what? MB III has performed much better and he is running against the same D and with the same OL as JJ. Simply JJ is not getting it done. He may be a one trick pony. I remember last year a couple of announcers pointing out that he got almost all of his big yards on a single play that we were running. Well in the NFL if you can't get yards on all of the plays, against all types of D, then you get exposed and game planned for. Until he proves otherwise I say he is what he is. A young back that can occasionally pick up big yards in certain circumstances. Not a stud young back that can carry a team!

I'm not a person who comes on this board and flames players but on this one I'm calling it as I see it. I'm actually pleased that we were competitive yesterday so I'm not venting about the Denver loss. It hurts, sure, but man could you imagine us playing that game last year? Can you say blow out?

Very interesting, you're calling out a second year back who's OL struggles to run block, but not the 13 year vet qb who's line allowed just one sack and had great protection on both of his int's which gave Denver 7 points on the first and cost us 3-7 points on the second.

And you're still upset over Q-pie's dismissal from the team? Astonishing.

One more thing kartr, just because he was only sacked once does not mean he wasn't hurried all day long because lack of effective blocking. You're only seeing it through agenda filled eyes.

BP messed up JJ's head with all that garbage about negative plays- so now he just goes where the play is designed to go- and with our lousy run blocking line, that is not good. He may have bulked up too much and lost flexibility and therefore quickness.
And with his ankle still not 100%, there you have it. Barber is better at the goal line, being bigger and stronger. But he has shown NOTHING else running the ball except when he faced one of the worst D's in the league. So realisiticaly there is nothing to be gained by giving Barber most of the carries.

BP messed up JJ's head

No matter how many times you say it, it won't be true.

And if it were true (again, it isn't) and JuJo's "head" got "messed up" that easily, then he wasn't worth a crap to begin with. If he's not mentall strong enough to handle constructive criticism then he's worthless.

Again, I don't think there's anything wrong with his head.

JJ is still hurt... I'm sure of it... you can tell by how he moves his feet. Have you seen his jump cut, bounce to the left recently?..no.. instead, he is taking the extra steps which is giving the defense time to react. I'll withhold judgment until I see him at least trying to do what he did last year.

Well, he wasn't running well even before his injury. So even if he is still hurting, I think it's more then the injury.

But it isn't cuz "BP messed up his head".

I believe this is a situation where both sides are correct. JJ is a better rb than MBIII, but the line is not blocking well...therefore, we're better served with MBIII, the more powerful runner and the better passing down guy.

When the line is blocking a little better, JJ will pop through from time to time and gash the defense for more yards...he'll make defenders miss and he'll scoot for long runs and TDs...we've seen it.

However, MBIII is clearly a better blocker and receiver right now in the passing game, and MBIII is a more powerful runner, which allows him to push the pile, make the better runs in short yardage situations, and avoid the stops in the backfield. When the OL is struggling, I think MBIII will do slightly better than JJ, but that little bit is important.

When the OL improves its run-blocking, JJ will be the RB with the most potential and franchise star power, imo.

we are staring an undrafted free agent that played guard in college and had never played LT before this year at LT and a rookie 6th rounder at RT. What do you expect the running game to be? Tomlinson would have a hard time running behind these guys.
