i'm tired of signing old washed up has beens.

that was a bill parcells way of doing things.

the right way to build a team is through draft picks and teaching those draft picks along with the young veterans on the team to be a cohesive unit.

then......they become a unit from hell.

i feel wade phillips will do this..

the patriots are an excellent example of this scheme.

free agency sucks.

I'm with you. A bunch of mediocre players getting paid like Hall of Famers- pathetic.

The thing that concerns me is that this isn't the NFL of yesteryear. Teams can go from 3-13 one year to 13-3 the next nad then back down. You can thank the league office for the watering down of the league in their quest to put an end to a "dynasty".

Once we build up our draft picks, then they'll hit FA and we'll get out-priced unless JJ really opens his wallet...which I don't think is a problem for him.

I was fine with it until I started picturing the right side of our OL:

RG: Cory Procter
RT: Pat McQuistan

That's an awful lot of trust in two OL who have shown nothing in game time.

It's too bad that sooner or later, that draft pick is going to be paid HUGE money if he's any good, and if you're a cheap organization, you then lose that guy you drafted.

Teams every year plug in guys they have developed. They actually see these guys in practice.

I think Pat is ready to play and Proctor will be better than Rivera.

For a fans of a team that have had one of the most pathetic OL's in the league the past few years I'm surprised how willing to accept and confident you are with what we currently have.

We are in danger of another year of significant change on the OL. Not a recipe for success!

McQ and proctor are seen every day in practice. We know more about them then we ever will about any draft choice. So that makes them less a gamble.

A word to the wise.....we had better get at least one experienced OL signed before the start of next season.

No GM in his right mind would want to start a season with a Cory Proctor and a Pat McQuistan holding down the right side of the OL.......that is if he expects to contend for the playoffs.

free agency sucks.

Most of the guys who signed yesterday are young guys under 30 or in their prime....big time performers, from what I've seen.

One can argue they were paid too much, but who knows...Hutchinson earned his big paycheck this year....but no one can say the guys who signed yesterday are washed up or has beens...they are very good players.

Thats why they probably made Adalius Thomas the highest paid player on their defense this year.

I agree 100%!

I would much rather build this team organically through the draft and developing our own players with the signing of 2-3 reasonably priced middle tier players.

The money being thrown around in FA seems like a waste considering that none of the FA's are enough to transform a team. save our money, keep our own players preserving the continuity of the team.

That sounds great unless you as horrible at drafting O-linemen as we are.

Then you had better smarten up when it comes to drafting or you aren't going to become a good team.

You can't build your team through free agency.

:hammer:

And it's nice to say we can build through the draft, but we haven't been doing that either. One or the other... it's not going to fix itself.
