I'm glad we're playing the division early

Isn't it usually towards the end of the season when teams like the Eagles and Giants tend to get hot? Obviously last year was a bit different for those two teams, and the Commanders don't seem to get hot whether it's the beginning, middle, or end of the season anyway.

There's all this talk about how our schedule is tough this year. And in some ways it is. But I personally think it's awesome we're getting our toughest division games out of the way early. That's a win for us, IMO.

I am not for this season. We have a few coming back from injuries who may or may not be ready. No Hardy and if by some miracle we get Gurley, he won't be ready either.

Also, what if we lose a key piece or two in camp and miss the start of the season? Like an OL or a DL/safety. I know, worrying but for this particular season, would rather have them the second half. There will be a lot of questions marks to start the season and may need time to get it together.

From everything I read Gurley will be ready game 1

Just playing "devil's advocate", but wouldn't the same be true for our opponents?

Yes, but Philly doesn't play NY and Dallas twice that early. Also, NY doesn't play Philly and Dallas twice that early. We get all four important division games early with no chance to control our own destiny if we get off to a bad start :(

You always control your own destiny.

If you wait until the last part of the season to try and take control , then you just started too late.

Then don't get off to a bad start. lol Dallas managed to beat both without Hardy and very capable of beating them this year. Play them late, early or mid season does not really matter

Don't lie. :muttley:

No lie, I expect this team to be a championship team and as Jimmy said and Jason said last year. We will play you in the parking lot, on the moon does not matter. Good teams step up and they play and beat whoever is in their way. We have 16 games we know who the opponents are, who and when we play them I don't care, go out and prove you are the better team each and every week

Agree. We did pretty well last year without Hardy, and at times without quite a few players being out for a few games or so. They still made plays at times.
To me the offense is the same with the only ? being RB, and I think we will be fine there.
Mincey was playing better, and Lawrence was emerging. LB's seem to be a strength again, or even better. Hitchins in his 2nd year, get Lee back, McClain is back, and added solid depth.

Yes we lacked a pass rush big time, so when Hardy gets on the field, it will be a bonus, and a huge bonus. But maintain those 1st 10 games, if he is actually gone for 10, then the rest may be a huge factor making the playoff push.
Get a few CB's, and a pass rush, the defense by the end of the year may be a top half easily overall, but play like a top 10 once all are on the field, including a strong draft.

I see it as 16 games, who we play and when and where we play them I don't care.

I agree Dooms. Back in the day every game was disected and analyzed so much my head would ache and spin for a couple of days afterwards. Now I'm just over it and we play one game a week and move on to the next.

True but I will say I am expecting a lot more from Lawrence in terms of getting after the QB. Missing time in training camp really hurt him as it would most rookies but as he was able to get his legs under him towards the end of the season he started to show himself as a legit pass rusher. I have no doubt the kid has been working hard because his expectation of himself are pretty high and I think he fully understands what it will take to achieve his goals.

You got it. I also think the key is never let one game get you too high or too low. Keeping an even keel through out the season I think it important

I think it's highly suspicious that those teams are early, but I did expect it. But I agree that this "could" work to the Cowboys advantage. I think they will be much stronger than the eagles and giants anyway but with all the changes the eagles have made in the offseason I think it could take them some time to adjust. If they some how make a deal for Mariotta it will be that much easier to beat them.

I think they shown some of that last year. It all starts with Jason. He seems to keep that even keel tone throughout the games as well as the season.
This translates to the players and coaches buying into his system....and ....process :) ....

I agree, Garrett does a great job of keeping this team steady and focused through out the season. I think it is one of his greatest assets. I know some like the rah rah coaches but I would rather have the guy that when players look to him he remains cool and calm

Well stated. That post of yours got me over the dealt hand. Right or wrong. Time to build on what we did last season.
