I think Norv is OUT of it, and im glad! Think Ron Rivera is going to be named the new head coach. I like it, Ron has been exposed to aggressive defense his entire career. The 46 defense as a player with the bears "think he brings some of that with him", 6 years as L.B coach under the blitz happy Johnson in Philly, and 3 years as the bears defensive co'. Plus I like the way he carries himself, think he can garner the respect of the players. Furthermore, I think Jim Caldwell of the Colts is going to be brought in as offensive coordinater. The Colt offense resembles ours in alot of ways. Lots of 2 t.e stuff. Think Jason Garrett is named asst Head coach/Q.B's coach. Think Todd Bowles moves up to defensive coordinater. Also think Rivera brings in old Bear teamate Leslie Frazier to coach the secondary. So,.......that leaves us looking like this.............Rivera/head coach, Jim Caldwell Offensive coordinater, Garrett/asst head coach, QB's, Bowles/defensive coordinater, Frazier/ secondary. They fill in the rest of the staff later......

....Think so, but Jerry has asked permission from the colts to interview him as a possible candidate. He could do it too as it WOULDNT be a lateral move. Tom Moore is running that offense now, Caldwell is the QB coach.

That has no bearing on anything. If he is still under contract,, the colts can block any move unless it is for the HC job. If the cowboys want him, they will have to give some compensation for him, unless it is for the HC job.

.........Wasnt aware of that. I thought an assitant coach could move to another team if it was a title upgrade without any compensation. In this case from QB coach to offensive coordinater.

Wouldn't it also be a lateral move for Frazier? Or has Frazier's contract expired?

No, they changed the rule regarding that, because teams would make up stuff to get other teams coachs. Now, the only position that a team can not block is the HC. Every other coach is considered an assistant regardless of any title that is given them. This makes all moves not including a move to HC, lateral and not allowed without compensation.

i guess we'll see. i do think that the more time that passes, makes JJ aware of the other options out there. IMHO, over time, norv becomes less and less of an option.

I wouldnt be shocked if Norv is hired

but I've been saying for two weeks now that I have had a feeling norv isnt going to be the guy. We are all guessing but the signs can be shown that leans that way

Yes, he was supposed to come in for a meeting with JJ.

But I don't remember the source, however.

Sadly, I think Norval Eugene Turner is the front-runner, but I think jerra will pull a surprise to let us know that he is a football expert and won't pick the most obvious name.

Rivera over Turner? Wonderful!
But not likely.
As to the DC job, I don't see why Rivera would want to accept a lateral position with the Cowboys as DC when he just might go to the Super Bowl again next year with Urlacher and company.:)
If you are correct, however, i will be the first one to give you a high-5. :)

......I was a longtime poster at a small board put up by the Abiline reporter called DGMS..."dont get me started", Still am . I was/am called Star4 "s4" over there. Really like this place. Best spot on the net for Cowboys news, but I'll always have a soft spot for DGMS as it was my first board. Met ALOT of nice folks over there. In fact, once a year a bunch of us get together from all over the country and make the trek to Dallas for a game.
