I'm missing something on Mario Williams

Another thing to consider is that there IS actually a rumor concerning Williams. That gives us hope that Dallas is going to try to fix the pass rush.

There is no indication that Dallas has any interest in any other player to do that. Ryan might not even like Wimbley or feel he's a good 3-4 fit.

It might be Mario or bust, just sticking with what we've got.

That's one of the reasons I'm excited about it. Hostile says there is mutual interest, and that means the Cowboys are trying to do something to make the team better.

Just like with Carr. I can't say I believe he's the greatest corner ever, but I'm just excited Dallas is "rumored" to be interested in doing something to fix its secondary.

If Williams and Carr are the way things end up going, I'm not going to knock two moves that make us better than we were before.

Eh. Isn't Dallas always rumored for the big name free agents? So is it a case of legit interest or are people just linking the big names with the most visible team to make a good story?

I don't pay any attention to any of it. All I know about our offseason right now is we slapped the franchise tag on Anthony Spencer. That's bad. Now I'll wait to see what we do from here.

.......depends on what makes him tick: money or winning. It can be some of both of course, but who really knows what lurks inside a guy: it's all speculation at this point. Seattle is interested too and Carroll is building a solid Defense as well.

Yea, I think Seattle is going to be our main competition for Super Mario, especially if they land Peyton.

..and no one said you did. Topic includes other's discussion as well. You started an interesting thread. The difference is in what is added to the table as well.:)

These people wanting to sign two cornerbacks with Jenkins and Scandrick on the roster are crazy.

I think if you are able to sign Mario Williams and move to a 4-3, it actually fills up quite a bit of holes.

Right now we need:

NT
DE (opposite of Ratliff if we do get a BIG NT)
OLB (to replace the less effective Spencer)

If we get Williams, he becomes our DE opposite Ware, Ratliff and Lissenmore become out DTs and then we are basically looking for a LB if you don't like a combination of Lee/Carter/Butler or Spencer.

I think we can sign Williams and Carr, along with Robinson. Draft DeCastro, Harrison Smith, Phillip Blake, and you've got one pretty successful offseason.

Jenkins may not be here after this season and his shoulder may cause problems.

There was no quote......The first part of the thread could of pertained to me so I just assumed.

As I said, I retract my post......

By the way, no reason to get mad at anyone here. I was just stating my case for why I think Wimbley would be a better option them Williams.

No anger or intent was demonstrated in my post...so feelings of being attacked should not attach as well...just easing the view. And connecting to thread topic, not people commenting on different aspects. You miss what was being presented here, that's all.

I never took anything you said as an attack, just amazed at how fast people turn on other people around these parts.

I think we got a page a half before the claws came out and I'm not even talking about me directly. I knew I was going to get hell.;)

I trust Hostile (and his connections), and he says the interest is there on both sides.

Doesn't mean it will happen. But I'm just glad that there seems to be the possibility of such a signing.

To me, Dallas doesn't just need to add a few more bodies to the lineup. It needs to add a few All-Pro-caliber bodies if it wants to make a push before it's too late to do it with Romo. Game-changers are needed for Dallas to overtake the Giants. Williams is a game-changer.

Yup, there is interest. Give Hos credit, he was calling this long before I wanted to believe it.

Can't wait!

:laugh2:

Problem is right now it would 90% draft related and very little Dallas Cowboys FA related. Our plans and intentions have been well documented, I can't add a lot that's not already being discussed regarding our FA plans.

I like both scenarios (Wimbley and Mario). I think Jerry & Co is enamored by the Giants front 4 rotation & wants to add a big, athletic guy like Mario to provide that kind of assault on the QB. Adding Mario would add a lot of flexibility to the Defensive playbook, particularly around 4 man fronts. I have to admit that is a pretty cool thought. I can think of numerous cool formations that could come of that. However, if we are to be a traditional 3-4 (primarily) then I think WImbley is an upgrade over what we have now, and would be awesome in our D.

Let's just get both of them. :)
