I'm a fan of this dynamic that we currently have more than anything else.

I think we're enjoying three coaches in their perfect role, doing a great job.

Linehan as an offensive coordinator - not a head coach.

Marinelli as a defensive coordinator - not a head coach.

And Garrett as a walk-around, overseer head coach - not a play-caller.

And I would be a big supporter of doing whatever it takes to ensure that all of those coaches stay in those roles for which they are best suited.

Some won tell GImmie: Did JG orchistrate this gathering (these august coches) or did Jerra? I have got to no due to a bet with the foot docter.

Garrett has earned an extension, as to the timing, I really don't think it matters that much. Jerry and Jason probably already have a hand shake agreement worked out but it would send the wrong message to officially announce it right now. I mean, it would send the message that the team is "over the hump" as Steve Dennis says. The counter argument is that "what has this team won?" Answer is nothing. Wait until the team wins the division, wins a playoff game, wins something before giving the head coach a new contract.

Nick Eatman basically said the same thing on the Break this week, that it would send the wrong message to do it now and that Steve Dennis basically didn't know what he was talking about. Eatman then told the story that Jerry knew ATT was going to be the sponsor of the stadium from the day he built it, but waited several years because ATT was laying off people during the recession. Eatman said that Jerry was not concerned about the dollars, "but the timing of the dollars" that was important. It would send the wrong message for ATT to be paying the Cowboys millions of dollars to put their name on the stadium when they were laying off people right and left.

Jerry cares about perception, that is why he is not going to give Garrett a contract in the middle of the season. Just think what the media storm would be if Jerry gave Garrett a new contract right now and the team then lost 3 games in a row?

Sounds like you've eaten your share of crow. I would take down that recipe but it looks like a lot of work and my wife isn't great in the kitchen. Told her I was going skeet shooting the other day and she said whatever you do don't bring any home because I don't know how to cook skeet.

:lmao:

Well, don't hold your breath on those two... They seem to get far more enjoyment (and likes) from bad play in Dallas than they do when Dallas looks like one of the best teams in the NFL.

Odd, that...

I didn't even thing about the "likes" issue. The ole "likes" meter is probably moving slowly for them these days with the Cowboys winning.

There are 2 posters that should be eating more crow in regards to the Cowboys than anybody else; however, one has dissappeared and the other just keeps making jokes about Marinelli and his nicknames for players.

Wait until we lose.

If there were a "dislike" meter that would deduct a "like" from someone's total "likes", I'm pretty sure "The Likes Collector" would not be having his little "likes" count so high! lol

I've been a Garrett hater.

I think I'm fully ready to eat my crow dinner in regards to Garrett. He may still have some hiccups in the future, but there is no denying what he has done to finally right this ship in Dallas.

I know many only want to credit Linehan and Marinelli and say they are the sole reason for this shift in our fortunes - but through articles and interviews it really does appear that the overall scheme of what our team has become rests on the red-headed one. And THAT will remain even if we lost Linehan or Marinelli next year. I definitely think we stick to the heavy running plan from now on regardless of who calls plays. It's proven that it works. And Garrett is ultimately responsible for implementing this run-heavy strategy, whether it was pro-active or just getting out of the way of others to do so - he did good.

Others probably want to wait till the end of the season to prove we don't collapse again. I'm not scared of this as our team is full of fighters who don't quit, thanks to Red's RKG strategy. Only multiple devastating injuries will allow us to completely collapse again I believe. Now tis may happen as it has for several years now. But even if it did, it would be no fault of Garrett.

So I'm ready for Jerry to extend Garrett whenever he is ready to. Garrett has almost completed his on-the-job training phase and is now only going to keep getting better and better as a HC. I'm all for that.

Hear you on most points definitely; wait until this team wins a playoff game. No harm at all in waiting (except JJ's pocket) and the team is assured to continue with the formula throughout the season. I think that works for both sides as an open JG critic. He accepts credit for winning a playoff game and allowing Linney to orchestrate this offense. Give the man an extension in Feb. Red heads need a carrot...it's science...from a family of learn(ed) doctors...established by the Germans.:D
