Much as I can't STAND Tiki Barber because I find him to be a gold plated phony...his performance last night, just as he's done in other big games, was outstanding.

The Giants are NOT playing well. They've had a ton of injuries to critical spots, DE, LT, WR...Manning was awful again, as usual.

But last night, it was clear, Barber forced his will on that game. He ran with determination. He's done this kind of thing in big games, for years.

I look at our group of players and don't see anyone who, even somewhat consistently, steps up in a big spot and makes an impact. I understand that Barber is the elite of the elite. But it would be nice, on occasion, to see someone step up.

I'm not sure if it's that we don't have that player OR if we play such a conservative system on both sides of the ball that it restricts the type of player who could be an impact guy IF we just let him loose.

Your thoughts?

I don't think we have the "player" I also think we have been restricting what we do have. Tiki, love or hate him can get it done when he gets carries.
Last night he got carries but the skins were really bad trying to stop him.

Jones doesn't have Tikis vision, not yet any way. We don't have the Giants O line either. Jones quietly ran for over a thousand splitting carries with Barber.

I would like to see a few games strung together with Jones as a featured back and see what he does. Of course that would be chancy and the passing game would have to be able to bail us out if needed.

I know the Commanders played lousy on defense but Barber does this kind of thing VERY often.

Jones thousand might be the softest thousand I've ever seen. Barber had much more impact.

I'm not sure what happened with Julius but I coulda sworn we had a super back after watching that rookie season.

It would be nice to see someone step up on defense on occasion and exert an impact on the game.

Seems no one on this team does that on an even semi consistent basis.

I think the defense is where our conservative play most restricts an individual player from taking over a game.

Either that or I'm just trying to fool myself so that I don't have to focus on the fact that we have a ton of first rounders, none of whom step up in crunch time.

I'm probably one of the few who would say it's the later. I don't get how we go from being very good on defense to non excistant in a matter of weeks.

We played a few good offenses and played well. Did we change any thing when we decided to go on a defensive hiatus? I don't think we did. Now that could very well be the problem also. Zimmer is holding a Rubics Cube, and just turning it and turning it.

This team has no heart and they learned it from their coach. 2 game losing streak-- he may retire, ......4 game winning streak - he's definitely back at least one more year bla-bla-bla..........I know I'm tired of it and by looking at how they've played recently one must wonder if the players are as well.

They are certainly not playing inspired football (with the exception of a few players).

we dont have that player,I think lately we have become 1 dimensional,I realize situations did create this lately, however everytime we need a play it has to come from the passing game.

I believe alot of teams dont respect our running game, thus getting more defenders back into coverage.

If Barber had more speed I think it would be different.

I think alot of us thought that Jones would be this player, and that has not panned out... I have my reasons for that.

I also believe this offensive line is too uo and down in the run game. Seems like to many 5 yard gain/backed by a minus 1.

dont know what the answer is,unless we give Barber the lead role next year, and see how that goes,or draft a sleeper in the middle rounds.

need some fine tuning on the oline as well why were at it.

I KNEW I could get someone to take a shot at Parcells, without it being me all the time.

Thank you BB...and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours.

The Giants still suck. Had they gone against a defense that could atleast tackle this game had a blowout written on it.

The Commanders defense is horrible and was a painful sight to watch this year. This board seems really funny when you guys ***** about bad defense because none of you have had the privellege to watch the Commanders defense. It's statistically one of the worst NFL defenses in the past few years.

Tiki Barber is a phony, Eli has always been and Tom Coughlin might have saved his job. Giants aint winning **** in the playoffs.

All of which is true. :)

But...Barber still manages to play his best when things are on the line.

So I have a question for Parcells/Zimmer: if things break our way today and we end up hosting the Giants next week can we make sure we game plan to stop Barber and dare Eli to beat us? I don't think he can do it. Barber kills us everytime so I would hope we would learn our lesson and put eight in the box and lets go to war...

That's exactly what I would do. Bring RW close and let him meet Barber at the line. IF Row plays like we know he can in the box, Tiki would be in for a LONG DAY.

If the Skins D had any kind of hands, the Giants lose last night.

Exactly. The Commander tackling was some of the worst I've ever seen. They had Barber stopped at the line many times and he waited it out and then exploded through for big yards.

The sloppy tackles, missed tackles last night was nauseating. Tiki is very good and ran his best, but the skins had plenty of chances to stop him early on on all three of his big runs.
