Here's a stat: Week 17 W-L record from 2000-2007

Dallas: 0-8 (0-2@home, 0-6 on the road)
Philly: 5-3 (3-2@home, 2-1 on the road)

I know, every year's different but that's almost as sickening a stat at the no playoff win since 1996.

They don't have to play a complete game...they may have to play as perfect a game as they have ever played.

Those stats are even scarier. A goose egg in week 17 the last 7 years? I knew it was bad but didn't know it was that bad. So many different coaches and personnel during that time. It's like there's a bad omen around.

Crazy thing is, there are people so certain we have this game. I see it coming from the media too. Business as usual and I'm worried about that. The players are keeping their pie holes shut which is a good sign.

You say perfect? After seeing that track record I say bring the holy water and a bunch of priests to keep the evil spirits off. Anything. That's just insane. Was going to thank you for providing the stats but I'm so creeped out I'm not sure I wanted to know this, lol!

Every media outlet I've seen has us losing. And most of this board is gunshy. Personally, I think this one is just about 50/50. We might just be the angrier team this time around. This is the week for Wade's 'we *will* win this game speech.'

I'm 50/50 too on it now. Was more 60/40 knowing what I already knew but sheesh. Witten hurting too. That guy made some huge catches and took some big hits for making them Saturday. He's big for us and all those catches might shorten his career faster than those blocking assignments.

Dawkins sounds about out but that may be Philly BS. That would be big and make things a lot easier for JW and Romo. Doubt it will happen though. If we lose, regardless of the $ thing, I don't see how Jerry could keep this staff together so Wade might as well promote the "we *will* win" speech.

We're going to be in a war. I've seen a few media reports saying we got a Christmas gift especially because they change the gametime to 3:15 pm and Tampa most likely will have already won to dishearten the Eagles. Well look at GB and CHI tonight. I don't buy into it.

Philly has an incentive to beat us no matter what the score of the Tampa game is.

If Tampa Bay loses, they *MUST* win to get into the playoffs.

Despite it's importance, it's a divisional rivalry game and that's incentive enough to win be it week 1 or week 17.

Probably the biggest incentive, whether they're in the playoffs or not (which they'll know by kickoff) is dashing Dallas' post-season hopes. I know if the shoe were on the other foot that'd be my biggest reason to hope for victory...more so than even making the playoffs. If Tampa win then that's all they have to play for.... either way they have so much incentive to win this game.

Oh plus winning season home finale...

Emotionally I think so much is stacked up against Dallas. IMO, this is the biggest game Tony Romo and most of these guys will play this season (playoffs or not) because it's not just a win-and-in scenerio: it's a test of the Cowboys' ability, pride and the self-worth of each and every guy on that roster and every coach on the sideline. Losing this one makes everything that has happened the previous 17 weeks moot/pointless/etc. This isn't a test for them... this is *THE* test. As I see things, they lose and the echoes will ring louder than the botched snap of 2006. Cliche as it sounds, I think this is a defining game.

If they make the playoffs and go one-and-done I'd actually be ok with it because at least they got there; here in a season that has seen this team at it's absolute best and it's absolute worst. Ok, so it'll be hard to swallow another playoff loss, but this is a team of second-chances...in many aspects and getting there is their second-chance this season. And I'm glad it's come down to win-and-in because then there's nobody to blame for a loss and only themselves to applaud for a win.

This is Pac Man's Cowboys. Keep getting chances, keep blowing them.
Personally, I hope PHI has a shot at the playoffs. I hope the crowd's electric and they savage us. And then we beat them anyway.

I'm not as down on this team as most. I think what they've done since Romo's been back has been pretty impressive, with the exception of Sat night.

We can beat PHI, in Philly. And we can beat any of the NFC teams in the playoffs on any given day. I do think this is a moment for the HC to do something to put the team, and himself, on the spot and make it happen.

The Philly game may have been my favorite of the year. A lot of people dumped on the defense for it, but I thought it was just an offensive prize fight, and I was glad to see us go toe:toe and break their back. I'm hoping this game is the same way, and that we sack-up and do it again. It's going to be an awesome game.

I will say this... this defense is not the same defense that Philly faced Week 2 and I think that is Dallas' biggest advantage right now going into this game

I forgot about Witten roasting Dawkins in the first game. Marion Barber beat Stewart Bradley for the game winning TD on a wheel route.

The Cowboys need Bennett and Choice to flat out ball. I think they will.

Terence Newman needs to shut that little munchkin (DeSean Jackson) down.

those stats dont mean anything. What the 2000 campo cowboys did means nothing.

If you want to compare stats, go look at the last 3 played against philly.

The eagles almost always throw the ball 40 times, they complete about 40% of their third downs and they will about 20 or 21 first downs and about 31 minutes of t.o.p.

That plays into our hands, they love to attack us passing and that is exactly what we need them to do, keep dropping back.

We beat them earlier in the year with cory procter in the lineup and without newman. Now we have newman, henry and an experienced jenkins and scandrick...and of course pacman. The player we will miss is barber, but choice has been so good we may not miss a beat there.

Meanwhile in 2 of the 3 games romo has been fantastic, we are converting about 60 % of our third downs and have scored alot of points on them.

We matchup perfectly with them. It will be all about keeping mcnabb from hitting the home run early, because if he does it will slow our defense down. Ellis and Ware are always good against runyan and thomas. If they want to sling it around all day, good.

Are they a good team. yes sometimes. Will they be motivated, yes, do they hate us yes....does that help the individual matchups....No.

That is crazy, but how many of those 8 losses were a game that the Cowboys HAD to win.

Well I know 2000-2002 was just a game to finish off the crappy seasons.

In 2003, we had already clinched a playoff spot.
In 2004, we were well out of the playoffs.
In 2005, we could have had something to play for if not for the spot being clinched right before we played. So in reality, that game meant nothing.
In 2006, we clinched before the last game.
In 2007, we clinched before the last game.

Not making excuses for the losses, but just saying, this game will be the first time in a while that it means something. Like you said, every year is different.
