he did spin around but arkins guy came in completely untouched and blocked the kick.

Said this in the game thread, but that was all Rosario.

Raiders brought 3 on that end, which Arkin and Rosario were supposed to pick up. Arkin gave a bad block, where he got pushed back by his man. But it was enough of a block to keep his man from blocking the kick.

Rosario had two men, one inside, and one outside. Rosario pushed the outside man wide, and let the inside guy come free. In the case Rosario was presented, you ALWAYS block the inside man, because the outside man has the longest route to the ball.

If Arkin blocks out to the man who got free, the man to his inside comes free.

Always block inside on FGs. Let the outside defenders take the longer path to the kick.

Everyone has very rosy impressions of rookies during training camp. Frederick has certainly not done anything to indicate he's a future pro bowler.

Frederick: will probably be an average starting center this year, which is a big upgrade for us. We'll see how he develops from there.

Escobar: will likely play only a third or so of snaps this year, so far as advertised from draft reports, long way to go still. Poor strength/technique run blocking (though is active and engages), slow route runner but big body with great hands, needs to work on getting in and out of his breaks faster.

Williams: about what was advertised, trouble getting off press coverage, limited route tree. He'll probably be a middling #3 this year.

Wilcox: i think he has been better than expected, he was always a project but probably developed faster than coaches initially thought. Clearly still learning coverages with limited prior experience. Special teams this year.

Webb: huge ups and downs, but clearly roster worthy with upside which is not guaranteed witha 4th round pick

Randle: too early to tell.

Overall I'm happy with the class. No player has looked like a bust, all their weaknesses are the same as expected, and they have been improving. That means that their upside is still the same. But rookies not drafted in the top of the first hardly ever do much their first year, especially not at te or receiver, and wilcox was always a project. Temper expectations year 1. Im just happy frederick hasnt struggled and been penciled in as the obvious starter day 1. Thats better than most first round lineman this time of year. But not at all an indication of future pro bowls.

Webb has huge ups and downs? Please identify the huge ups. He's stunk it up

How do you know that was Arkin's guy. He was blocking the guy directly across from him. If he hadn't, that guy would have gotten in clean.

I have high hopes for Wilcox this season. He's been playing against 1st teamers and holding his own. He's a playmaker when he's roaming around making tackles. He is a little suspect in coverage but when all the 1st teamers are playing he'll have less pressure on him. Call me crazy but I think Wilcox could be a Day 1 starter.

It's ridiculous how many times I read he's one or TWO years from starting. Lol what makes Will Allen better? I challenge anyone to answer that. If your answer is (experience) smh. What are the coaches here for? And if he can't be a starter this year it was a dumb pick. We aren't the jaguars drafting for the future. Ugh. Throw him out there vs NY and see if he can swim.

Escobar is a liability any time we ask him to block, so he will be limited to a pass catching role. Its like we drafted Ramses Barden with our 2nd round pick and moved him to TE.
We have wasted so many picks on TEs its incredibly frustrating. Escobar is going to have to be a threat in the red zone or be a nice safety valve for romo to help us at all this season. At this point though I would rather have Witten and our more talented receivers on the field than the 2 TE set. Escobar's size leaves me hopeful about his potential (especially once he bulks up), but it was a high price to play for a 1 dimensional TE.

Frederick has been solid as advertised. He's shown that he can be a day one starter at center and had the smarts to really improve this line in time.

Escobar has proven the reports right as far as his blocking inadequacies, hopefully this improves. He hasn't had much opportunity yet to show much in the pass game so I reserve my words there.

Williams is an unknown at an area of good depth so he will hopefully be given time to develop.

Wilcox shows many things that we already expected. He has a high ceiling and is very physical and a good wrap up tackler who tends to be around the ball and has good hands as a former WR. He also showed that he is raw, very raw having only played one year at the position and at a small school no less.

Web was a major disappointment last night, but lets remember we all heard time and time how hard CB is as a rookie, even Mo had his struggles last year and he was the "best defensive player in the draft", so I'll give Web a pass for a bit.

Holloman shows the athletic ability and downhill burst to be very affective in the run game.

I'm pleased overall with the class as this is only the second week of preseason. If they can all continue to grow, much like Wilcox did from game 1 to game 2, we will be in great position and this would prove to have been a very good draft.

It's a good looking draft class to me. Even the guys who look "lost". Yeah, it's game 2 of their very brief NFL career.

Frederick is vindicating my man crush of him when he declared for the draft. He's your starting C for the next 10 years.

Caveat: It's very early.

Frederick. Looks like the real deal; a solid starter for the next decade. Anchors well and gets to the second level well. Occasionally as trouble with quickness; will be tested with blitzes in the regular season. There will be growing pains but he looks good.

Escobar. From everything we've read is a good pass catcher and can get down the field. Haven't seen that, but they are probably holding back. Is not strong enough yet. I have a feeling he will not play a ton of snaps in year 1, but I would give him a year or two to develop before any hand wringing.

Williams: ?

Wilcox. Really like this kid. Yes he's not perfect, but developing. He has all of the physical skills just has to play more. Is a playmaker physical and can cover. Will start next year and I predict will be a pro bowler in the next few years.

Webb. People are pretty hard on this guy. Made some mistakes, but he physically looks like the guy we would expect him to be. Could be a slot guy some day, has the physical ability. NFL is such a huge jump up for him it's too early to say anything. THis will be a redshirt year.

Randle. I guess I haven't been as impressed as some people. Looks like the 4th best back on the team at the moment. Has decent power. Would like to see more quickness. Perhaps he is catching up to the speed of the game.

Holloman. I like this guy. Up and down like a typical rookie. To me looks like a perfect weakside lb in the tama 2. Just a special teamer this year though.

Webb makes the team but he may be inactive for all 16 barring injuries elsewhere

Would you rather have had Eifert at 18 and Fred in the second (assuming he fell that far) or Fred, Escobar AND TWill?

The only pick that has disappointed me is Escobar. Yes, it's early so we'll see. He may be a solid player but i still dont get why we had to get a reserve backup TE when you had Hanna on the roster. Could've gotten a TE later IMO. The other picks like Frederick, Wilcox, Webb, Willams and my favorite Holloman are gonna be contributors. Webb has struggled some but i like his physical tools. Needs time as a young CB. Holloman will be a great sub package LB and STs. May never be a starter but that's fine.

I really hope T Will shows out b/c this Escobar pick is really ruining it for me.
Escobar's blocking the other night was atrocious. Of all the choices, he has been the most disappointing.

No, and I'm a huge Eifert fan. The Cowboys could have selected Williams at 47 and I would have had no complaints. I also like having Fred locked up for five years as opposed to four.
