Impressions of the new coach so far?

I know it's early and that the end results will tell the story about Wade's coaching ability, but what are your impressions of him so far? Personally I've found the press conferences much more informative and enjoyable than what they have been in a long time.

I don't mean to take anything away from coach Parcells because he is largely responsible for the quality of players that we have and for a lot of the positive qualities that coach Phillips has commented on. But I sense a much more "at-ease" atmosphere at the press conferences. He doesn't come across like he's only doing it because he has to, but I think he's really trying to provide as much info as he can without giving away the store. He is also showing respect to all of the questioners and he doesn't come across like he is taking himself too seriously. I think it is making the press conferences more productive for all involved. I can only hope that he is having the same effect on the practice field.

Very nice guy. Very humble and respectful. His demeanor reminds me of Tony Dungy.

I agree with Jeff. This guy will demand respect from the players because he is a players coach. He will not go overboard on the discipline side of coaching like the Tuna, but if a guy doesn't produce or does something stupid off the field he won't be around long.

I'm a Tuna fan.

Wade is not Tuna.

Tuna won Super Bowls.

I'm a Tuna fan as well. Heck, I had his name on my minivan for 4 years. After meeting Wade, I'm now a Wade fan as well. Supporting Tuna and/or Wade is not a mutually exclusive choice. You can support both coaches.

he won it in the "Dark-Ages", and by 3 points. His teams were actually better than he let them be.

Tuna is so WAAAAAY overrated. he is like an old Grandpa on the front porch swing, that won't shut up about the "good-ole days"

I like both Tuna and Wade. Tuna is great at evaluating talent. He makes players play hard. He probably would have won a SB if he stayed for 2 more years. That said, I think he is stubborn and he needs guy slick Bill Belicheck to influence him. Wade will get these guys toplay. I think long term dicipline will cause some problems. Bottom line, if we draft talent, we will win.

well lets see, did he re-create the majic since he left NYC? No, and everyone pronounced him god. Now yes JJ didn't either in Miami, and we pronounced him god too.

hmmm, maybe your on to something bro. maybe this media fools us all into all this greatness. Of course Vince and Tom are excluded

tuna held back the team on gameday unfortunately with outdated methods. his schemes on O & D and overall ideology was just ill-suited for a 16-game season & playoffs in this era.

wade is probably the right guy at the right time but we need a good start. i'd be worried if we start slow he's the type of coach w/ young staff that could get buried under an avalanche in valley ranch.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I am glad he is at least living up to his "thank goodness he is not Norv" reputation.

Tuna was Henry's biggest fan...

Now there's a moral dilemma.

pop quiz hot shot. The coach you adore absolutely loves the CB you hate. And he cut the QB that you see in your dreams.......

what do you do.

I think it's great, so far. I like to listen to him, I like the old players being in the stadium giving the current ones advice. I like Bum sitting around watching practice. I like him joking and being friendly with the players - I like it all.

But it's new. So I'm sure we all like it - cuz we like new things.

My impression of Wade Phillips can be measured in the ratio of wins/losses. For now, the jury is out.

The 1990 New York Giants were "obviously" way superior to the 1990 Buffalo Bills? What Kool-Aid are you drinking?

And the 1986 New York Giants, were, I believe, 14-2 and didn't have a single competitive playoff game. How much better could they have been?

Lets see...Parcells turned a perrennial 5-11 team into a solid playoff contender this year. Jimmy took a playoff team in Miami and made them into a......playoff team?!?!?!?
