Improving the defense starts up front

I've made a couple topics about what we can do to improve position groups, but I think ultimately the most important group, and coincidentally the group we have the most ability to impact this year is the defensive line.

I'd love to see Robert Ndemichke drop us in the second round. I'd pick him up there in a heart beat. I think that is what Jones means by not being afraid to continue to take risks.

But I would also re-sign Greg Hardy at cost if possible and structure the contract to be able to get rid of him easily. I think he will be much more productive this year without the layoff and in his second year in the system. As Jerry said, I also think winning games will help, not to mention the pressure we can get with teams forced to throw the ball down the field as opposed to pick and choosing when to attack this defense.

Greg Hardy - Robert Ndemichke - Tyrone Crawford - Demarcus Lawrence
Randy Gregory* - Terrell McClain - Nick Hayden - Jack Crawford

Yeah, I do think they'll re-sign Hayden unfortunately. Hopefully to just another one year deal. I'd also like to see us get someone like Chris Long to replace Jeremy Mincey.

I think you can get Greg Hardy for a lot cheaper than he would want right now. He already hurt himself with the off the field stuff to the point where I would say most teams in the NFL probably wouldn't take him. Maybe a year helps him with that, maybe not. But his low production this year and his continued shenanigans certainly hurt him. Maybe 1 year 7 million dollars.

Otherwise Mario Williams or DeMarcus Ware (if available) are musts.

Jerry loves to roll the dice in the 2nd round. Ndemichke sounds like a lock for us if he's there. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Lawrence - Crawford -Ndemichke-Bosa as our starting front four this year. Don't love it, but don't hate it either.

Personally, I think if the rumors about Hardy are true, I wouldn't add him back to the team regardless of cost. You can't have a guy who destroys team chemistry at any price. It is never worth it. Moreover, we had our honeymoon period with Hardy last year. It is likely to only go downhill from here.

Any plans for the defensive line should not include Hardy. The experiment didn't work out. Do I think he will be better this year, yes. Anyone that has played football knows that it is difficult to not play for a year.

But I also think that chemistry is important. He disrupted it last year. I think it all went downhill after he smacked the clipboard out of the Special Team Coaches hand. It is what it is, but I think that it would be better without him here.

I would need to know the whole story about Hardy from last year. What we get in the media may not be
But if true I walk away and move on
I do agree fixing the dline is a real key for this team. That's what will make the secondary look better, create pressure and turn overs

I always believe that front 7 is more important to defense, but as a visionary you have to be flexible to adapt and not force only one philosophy. If we don't have Suh or Watt type of player but we have Ed Reed kind of player available, you have to build your secondary first and wait for right pieces in front 7 either in FA or later drafts

I want this player.

I can't see him being available with our 2nd round pick though.

Some team with a strong culture like Seattle will draft him.

you would think that DL is very important, but not to Marrinelli, he keeps marching Nick Hayden out there because.... well just because. Not because he is the best option, or better than any other player. You have 2 2nd rounders on the DL and your high priced 3 Tech. You would think that finding a suitable replacement for Hayden would be an easy task, but not in Dallas.

Everyone's in love with Nkemdiche now after he ran a 4.8 at 300 lbs. The biggest problem with Nkemdiche is not his off field crap, it's his lack of on field production. A guy that size, that fast and that strong should have had more, much more, tangible success. The more games I watch (games, not highlights) its obvious that this kid lacks technique and desire. He is in love with a bull rushe or worse, a weak spin move that just leaves him with his back to the ball on a lot of plays. And he does not like to chase unless its in his immediate area.

If someone can light a bon fire under this kid, he could be special. But guys who don't have heart will eventually break everyone else's. More I watch him, more I think I don't touch him until the 3rd. Someone will draft him on potential in the first, maybe even 2nd, however.

It just has FLOP written all over him. And his lack of caring during his interview process......I don't know why anyone would want him any earlier than the 4th.

Nkemdiche isn't getting past 34. He practically reeks of Cowboy. We won't pass him up at that spot if he's there.
