Welp, with the mass hysteria of finding a new head coach, at least we have our foundation in Jeff Ireland. It would seem we still have the brains to scout and pick up some great athletes. Parcells aside, Ireland can hold down the fort and keep the inmates from running the asylum. Something else we can thank Parcells for. He didn't leave us as empty handed as most would think.

It's amazing how much respect this guy has on this board? Why is that? Could some of the busts we've had been his responsibility, but we assume that Bill's authoritarian nature overrode Ireland's suggestions? Are there any articles or proof to that effect? As tight as VR is with information leaks...unless your initials are T.O., I haven't heard anything to support that theory. My thought is that we'd rather have anyone selecting other than JJ.

I called into Norm's show this morning about this very subject.

Take it for what it's worth, but Norm said that Jerry WILL retain Ireland and that he respects Ireland's opinions.

He also confirmed that Parcells did, in fact, overrule some of the scouting staff's suggestions - most notably Jacob Rogers. Norm intimated that the staff (and Ireland) were strongly against Rogers, but that Parcells interceded and we selected Rogers.

Norm's exact words to me were to, "be glad that Bill is gone from the draft process."

Ireland is credited by many people with cleaning up the scouting situation so that no more Ekubusts, Shante's and the like were grabbed. We really have had no first day busts with the exception of Rogers and Peterman- and Rogers is all on BP. So frankly I challenge the morons who squawk to find any other team that has significantly drafted better then the boys over the last 4 years. It will be a very short list.

Not unless u wanna blame drafting a slow Punt Returner in the 4th round on Ireland!!!

Can I get a link as to where I said BP hired Ireland? You can bet your bottom dollar BP was instrumental in getting Ireland the J-O-B. He's also responsible for running out Lacewell, or do you really think Jerry did this all by his little lonesome? Nit pick all you want as to who did what for the sake of an argument. If you do not think Parcells was not responsible for Ireland that's your choice. Peek under the clouds my friend, it's real nice down here.
