That nearly happened. The Cowboys could have won both games against GB and more than likely won the first two SBs.I'd like to see Tom Landry's name on the Super bowl trophy rather than Vince Lombardi
Perfectly said.Just total class as a coach and as a man.
Him and Roger were my inspiration to become a fan.
That doesn't sound like his character. Don't know anything about his wife's character. I've heard some digs at The Cowboys coming from his wife. That "rooting for the Giants" story sound like fake news and doesn't match up with Christian character that Coach Landry professed.Loved Tom Landry!! What made me sad was when his wife said he rooted for the Giants in the last years of his life. Broke my heart!![]()
The fact that AT&T stadium is not named after him is a crime.

I love the sound of that, Tom Landry Stadium Home of The Dallas Cowboys. What a high-class name, let's start a petition and tell Ol Jerry this is what the fans want. Tell Ol Jerry if he wants to keep this fan base and sell team merchandise renaming the stadium is mandatory. The fact that AT&T stadium is not named after him is a crime.
Thanks for that post, I loved it.I HAVE A TOP 10 ACCOMPLISHMENT IN LIFE:
I MADE TOM LANDRY SMILE
I met Tom Landry in January 1979 in Ft. Lauderdale, when the Cowboys were practicing for the Super Bowl against the Steelers. I met and talked to Roger Staubach, Preston Pearson, Billy Joe Dupree, DD Lewis, Hollywood Henderson, Jethro Pugh, Robert Newhouse, Larry Cole, Benny Barnes, Harvey Martin called me Mr. Stats. Jethro Pugh told me I should be a sports agent.
When Tom Landry was leaving the old Yankees spring training complex in his rental car with all the windows open, I popped my head through the passenger window and said to him: "Coach Landry, you are looking at the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan east of the Mississippi." He gave me a wide smile. I was elated. I cherish that moment again some 46+ years later.
There was an idea floated around that they could name the field itself "Landry Field" and still keep the stadium corporate sponsorship. I really wish that would resurface but I doubt Jerry cares enough. The fact that AT&T stadium is not named after him is a crime.
