Is his insisting that he control the assistant coaches.

This year is the first year that Garrett gets the guy he likes on offense. Most of the other coaches he has no control over and is stuck trying to prove he is a head coach with some other persons coaches. No way that is fair to him. Garrett should have taken those other head coaching jobs when offered.

Even Parcells was stuck with Jimmer.

Every coach should be allowed the assistants they want or need. They should succeed or fail with thier people. Plus the coaches need to be able to work together. Now we here that Calllahan and Garrett didn't even talk last year.

Jerry will not change and that is why the Cowboys have been so long without winning anything important.

I believe his biggest mistake is the way he tells the media the BS. We all know the questions will not really be addressed. Lacking accountability.
But I like Jerry. Worlds most famous fantasy football gamer.

I'm not entirely sold on how completely Jerry might control the hiring of assistants, but, to the extent he does, yeah, it's a huge mistake. It also is beyond stupid if that's really what's going on.

I agree with OP concerning Jones continue to hire assistant coaches rather than the HC but to me, the biggest mistake he continues to make is being a GM.

Another mistake he continues to make is having an open door policies with players and that undermines the HC's authority.

This is the other big one that I can't believe he doesn't just knock off. It's such an obvious mistake to make, and it's one a number of former players have talked about openly (Darren Woodson is the best example of this that always sticks in my head). It's so stupid, and so easy to change. I don't get it.

I thought that JG had the input that sent Ryan packing and brought in Kiffin and Rod from hs experience with them in Tampa?? Isn;t JG the guy that pulled the trigger on Linehan?? I think we have a post stating that on here right now.

I think Jerry's biggest mistake is still taking any input from Larry Lacewell.......

C'mon. We all know his biggest mistake. It's acting as his own GM. Employing his son as the Director of Personnel is a close 2nd.

We have a winner ... putting people in charge of player personel who have zero experience doing it.

Correct. The overarching mistake Jerry makes is that he doesn't hire a GM to make all the football decisions. Fix that mistake and all the other ones (hiring assistant coaches, undermining the HC, laughable contracts, FA follies, and hundreds of others) go away.

I believe his mistake comes before that. He creates/allows for wrong culture. Players don't respect any coaches as much a they should. Jerry is king. Coaches are at best; pawns... Mayyyyyyyyybe knights.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

How do you know that what you spewed is true?

Because a clown like Werder, Cowlishaw, or JJT makes crap up to "produce some news?'

It has to be this.

Most of the players & coaches on this team would find a place with another NFL team.
I can't imagine there is a single other team that would hire Jerry as GM.

Use that pea brain you got and learn to look and evaluate and think for yourself instead of buying into the Galloway type junk and other mediots crap.

How am I going to evaluate myself with no team access? The only thing I have to go off is the same stuff you have. News reports plus interviews with former coaches. What else is there?
