Disclaimer: This is only about stats, the "But Romo didn't win when it mattered most" debate isn't in here.

  • This season so far, only an average of one out of 72 of Romo's passes have been intercepted thus far.
  • In 2012, an average of one out of 34 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2011, an average of one out of 52 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2010, an average of one out of 30 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2009, an average of one out of 61 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2008, an average of one out of 32 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2007, an average of one out of 27 of Romo's passes were intercepted.
  • In 2006, an average of one out of 25 of Romo's passes were intercepted.

I think they should have at least 2 different INT categories... Maybe 3.

1. INTs that are thrown directly to defender
2. INTs that are tipped/deflected to defender
3. INTs where WR runs wrong route

IMO, Romo's two best years as a pro have been 2011 and 2009 (in that order). He isn't throwing with the explosiveness of 2011, but is far, far more efficient now.

To put it in perspective, Romo is throwing nearly 3 times fewer interceptions per pass attempt than he did in 2006.

He's definitely having an excellent season. If he had more playoff success, I think anyone with half a brain would put him ahead of everyone but Brady, Peyton, Brees and Rodgers. Let's just hope the rest of the team can step it up so we can have a chance this season.

Well, we know the INT last week was tipped, week before, what really happened. I think a combination of things.
Wrong was ran a little off, too slow, Romo couldn't / didn't put the ball where he wanted / needed it to be. Was this because of pressure, foot stepped on, combination of all.
Did this cause him not the see the RB. I don't know, plus the LB'er made a great play. 9 out of 10 times, he wouldn't catch that or get there in time.
His 1st INT against Giants, I can't recall the circumstances of that, was it a deep pass, and was just picked or just a pick, or a bad route?

3.9, 3.7, 3.1, 1.6, 3.3, 1.9, 2.9, and 1.4 INT% from 2006 to 2013. So yes he's better so far and 1.4 is a very good rate.

Wrong route by Terrance Williams and where Romo threw it nobody was even close to the ball except the Giant -- it was an obvious learning moment for Williams and I think he's better for it.

Yeah Romo's had some tough luck when it's come to a few INT's, but he's also had some incompletions that could've easily been INT's, so it balances out.

His INT% is 1.4. That's awfully good. And he's generally gotten better over his career.

Guy's having a good season, if he can just change the timing of some of his INT's, we'll be solid.

But that's true of every quarterback. Matt Ryan also has just 3 INTs this season, but could probably have had 6.

Yeah I'm not complaining. He's doing a great job of protecting the ball, I just hope he continues to be aggressive like he was vs. Denver.

Agreed, all I'm saying is that if you don't wanna credit the 3 INT's to Romo because they weren't really his fault (bad luck), you have to consider the almost-INT's that have resulted in incompletions (good luck).
