Having bashed Wade, and still believing that he needs to be replaced, I did find myself with some strange mixed emotions during his Monday, post debacle press conference. I wonder if those who want Wade gone (remember thats me too), can identify with these.

1. I think Wade Phillips is himself. One thing that stands out about the guy is that he never changes. He is the same guy before he was hired, during his hire and he will be after his hire.

2. He is willing to take his blame. I think this was impressive. I liked it a lot better than a couple of times during the season when it seemed he was defending himself. On Monday he SINCERELY (it seemed to me) had come to the place where he realized that some things needed to change. That encouraged me.

3. He didn't throw his coaches under the bus. That IS a form of leadership. That is a big thing that bothered me about Romo's LOSER press conference after the game. A guy who had just turned the ball over like he had was blaming schemes instead of admitting he has become a turnover machine. (A lot like his hero Brett Favre) Wade, never once, threw Garrett or Stewart under the bus, but instead admitted that all the coaches needed to improve.

4. He was a gentleman. No anger, no defensiveness, and it didn't seem to be a show to me, it seemed real. I actually, and this is gonna sound crazy, thought of Landry ON THAT POINT ONLY ;), and thought it was a class act.

Now, there were still the troubling points also. Things that just aren't going to change about him that really need to in order to be a great head coach. (In my opinion) But the things I've listed actually encouraged me.

So, if Wade ends up staying I'll be rooting for him. I still believe he needs to go. I've always believed he is a nice and decent guy. I just think he is too nice and too weak to be a head man. He is a coordinator BY NATURE. But if no change happens at least I'll be rooting for a nice guy.
