So the lovely fiance' and I are looking for a new bed. Whatever we get, it's going to be King sized. We're kinda leaning toward a Tempur-pedic. Money is no object. (within reason)

Anyone got any suggestions or personal experiences they'd care to share.

Thanks.

Just do it in the back seat of your new car?

Thanks.

I've heard some decent reviews about the Tempur-pedics.

Friend of mine purchased one and he said he gets to sleep quicker than he did on his old bed. Although he freely admitted his old bed was a POS, I think being able to get to sleep quicker is definitely worth something.

He also told me that his fiance would often wake him up from moving around so much at night on their old bed but there is so little movement in the Tempur bed that he not longer has that problem.

All in all, he likes the thing. I'm not sure how I would feel about it. I've slept on extremely thick Tempur pillow-tops and was iffy about them. I know its not the same but if it were, I'd probably just got with another bed.

I got too hot and the Tempur pillow top took shape so much that the material almost gets hard. I assume both of these wouldn't be problems with a real Tempur bed. Pretty sure my buddy was telling me that the Tempur bed has a custom frame that lets air circulate at a much higher level than normal.

Of course the downside to those beds is their price. I think my friend paid around $1700 for his and I think he got a queen. Don't quote me on that but I think that is what it was.

If you have the cash to spend on it, I think it might be something worth looking into. I would definitely try and find one of those places that has a guarantee or trial period or something like that. Laying on the bed in the store is nothing like what it will be like at home. After 8-9 hours of sleep, or whatever you get, you better believe it won't be so heavenly. Of course, that is any bed.

As we move closer and closer to a more "personalized", "individualistic" world. The only one that makes sense. Sleep Number.

Instead of doin it in the new car, perhaps we should do it on the new couch, in front of the new 55' HDTV.

I was in Texas visiting the family for the holidays and my parents had a tempurpedic bed in the guest room. It was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. And since it doesn't transfer movement that also puts it on top of the list.

I'm just as excited about getting a king sized. Should be awesome. I can't wait.

I got a Dormia mattress about 2 yrs ago. I paid about $2500 for a King Mattress. I would give it back today if I could. It is hot, the mattress sags on both sides where you sleep and for the first time in my life I have back, neck and shoulder problems. I know it is related to that bed. It is also hot even with a 1/2 inch mattress cover over it.

Their 30 day policy of satisfaction does not cover getting your money back. It only allows you to upgrade to another mattress. I got the top of the line Ambrosia so there was no mattress to upgrade to. I can't believe this company is still in business.

Spending a lot of money on a mattress is a complete waste. You can find high-end (in terms of mattress technology) mattresses for around $1000.

I spent $300 for my queen mattress and box spring. I wanted a king, but, at the time, I couldn't afford it.

I like my bed. It's pillowtop. Don't think it's tempur-pedic, but I sleep pretty good.

I have a pillow top mattress from the Denver Mattress Company and I love it, absolutely love it. I've had it for about 6 years now and it's just as comfortable as it was on the first night. Look into it.

The Tempurpedic and most foam beds are traditionally very hot to sleep on...

Think of it like moving to another part of the bed or turning your pillow over. There is no cool place on a Tempurpedic...

My former neighbor was the manager of a furniture store and he said he got a lot of complaints on how hot they were. That's fine if you like that. It has no bearing on the quality of the product... they are quality...

I would definitely check into Spring-Air... they got their coils right (vertical) and have a good product...

According to my neighbor several companies have attempted to purchase their technology...

Apparently there's a new kind that "breathes" better than tempurpedics. Can't recall the name, though.

We got a tempur-pedic "Rhapsody." All tolled with frame and everything it cost $4200. The matress itself was $3800. We couldn't quite afford the tempur-pedic with the pillow top ($4500) but we got the one just below it.

Thanks to everyone for the advice, it really helped me out.

It's scheduled to be delivered tonight.

You live in Philly, right?

Check for bedbugs every two weeks.

I have a King Tempur and I freakin LOVE IT.

I had all kinds of shoulder/back problems w/ a spring. Ever since I switched over to the foam, that is all gone now.

Love IT !!

Good buy.
