Giants backup running back Ahmad Bradshaw has practiced only once this week because of an ankle injury but he said Friday that he's ready to go. The Giants have had extra time of their Thanksgiving Day game.

``I feel good,'' Bradshaw said. ``I've been in this situation, spraining my ankles, before. To be able to rest and get ready for this game was big.'''

Bradshaw was being used more. He got 26 carries in the last two games he played. He has 549 yards on 115 carries, a 4.8 average, with four touchdowns.

With Giants safety Michael Johnson (groin) questionable, Aaron Ross of Tyler will help replace him.

Ross, who played at Texas, missed the first nine games with an injured hamstring and has played only in nickel and dime situations the past two. A longtime cornerback, Ross has very little experience at safety. He has taken a crash course in the position this week. Although he has been taking first- and second-down reps, he will be used primarily in sub packages.

``When they brought it up to me, I figured that was the easiest way for me to get on the field and to get the feel of my legs without just being thrown in the fire,'' Ross said. ``I'm still a corner. I think it's getting better in practice and in film study, and the coaches are staying on me. I think the more repetitions I have, the better I'll get at it.''

Ross' biggest adjustment has been focusing on the quarterback. ``At corner, especially in this defensive scheme, you have to basically keep your eyes on your man and at safety you're basically reading the quarterback.''
