Inside George Pickens' turnaround from Steelers to Cowboys

It may not be fair but I pretty much always discount what guys run at their school's pro day. It's almost always set up to make the player look good. In contrast I believe Turpin had to basically stage his own "pro day" at a local high school because of being suspended from the team at TCU. He was also not allowed access to the TCU facilities, training staff et al during his suspension. So when he ran what he did he did so training like you and me. Going out to the track and basically coaching himself and eating at the school cafeteria instead of the athletic training table. That's why I give more weight to HIS time than I do Blue's. Though I agree if Blue was hurt at the combine that would be a problem. What cannot be argued is that has yet to play to his timed speed. He is not the first guy to suffer that and he won't be the last. Hopefully when he gets his head on straight we will get to see that speed on display ..
Oh I understand that i'm just saying it's easier to see Turpin speed because he's small he looks way lighter on his feet his stop and go speed is way better at this point but right now Blue is thinking a lot He doesn't know this offense and he doesn't get on the field that much but I seen his highlight reel besides the fact of watching him every week when he played for the Longhorns he's fast he's really fast but obviously Turpin even if they had the same timed 40 looks faster and he probably is faster in space because he's smaller he's lighter therefore he's got that small area quickness...

I'm surprised at how small this dude is and he hardly ever is hurt all the injuries that the Cowboys have had so many years this injury bug and he's not really one of them that's strange...

It sounds like you got into it again.
No it's a different subject same player but now we're talking about something else I got on this page about George Pickens and the Steelers and the Cowboys and somehow Blues name made it back...

No I'm not getting into it we're just talking about his 40 time his speed and quickness that's different i'm asking how it ended up popping up in this random non blue conversation...

Turpin was not even drafted. So who's light took longer to turn on?
Turpin got kicked off the team at TCU his senior year after some chick accused him of domestic violence. The accusations turned out to false (I think) but the damage was done to his draft stock. That's why he had to take the long route to the NFL. Unlike Blue (and a lot of other guys) Turpin has seized the opportunity that was present him. Maybe the years he spent bounding around those other leagues made him hungrier but there is no denying that when they put him on the field he shows up.

Maybe pairing him with CeeDee has had an effect on him growing up?

So are you telling me other players have not been accused of things like this before and been drafted???

"B-b-but Dak doesn't elevate players around him!"
:lmao2:
Whoa...easy there big fella. He's no Kevin Ogletree.

Having said that...I just gave a "huh" to someone crediting CeeDee. If challenged....I do point to Dak.

I think it was because the article talked about CeeDee taking him under his wing too. Steelers quotes admitted he didn't have alphas at those positions in Pittsburgh to keep him honest and he's just a big kid, so needs it.

I know this is way off topic I don't know where this George Pickens got all these different viewpoints now they have nothing to do with him Bye dez Bryant didn't play his senior year either I forget what he did was it something about a agent or money or some weird stuff happened but he still got drafted by the Cowboys pretty high if you're good you're good sometimes you you take the long route turpin took the long route but he made it back... he's making a nice career for himself here with the cowboys.

. I think George Pickens to stay back on topic whether it was true or not he's being labeled like Antonio Brown and that's what we have to be concerned about because he been on his best behavior right now but what happens if he gets his bag or if they try to tag him and make it like an anchor and force him to play on the franchise tag what version of George Pickens will we see?

Well...okay. I'm not entitrely sure Ceedee is the most mature, level-headed guy around Pickens.

But if it works for him...cool beans.

Hmmm... I wanted to keep Lewis in the off-season but maybe it was for the best he went elsewhere because would the front office have made the trade to acquire GP if Lewis was still on the team? I know it's a petty thing but those were strong words from Jourdan. How would George feel about having to call Lewis a teammate? Could it have gotten things off on the wrong foot?

Knew that was coming, and it only took until post #11.....

My rebuttal would be that great receivers make the QB look better, not the other way. Want proof? Go back to the 2018 season before Amari Cooper came on board. It was Amari that instantly improved the offense, not the QB.

Pickens has made some outstanding plays on balls that weren't thrown all that great. CeeDee has turned into a frog after getting paid.
A rebuttal… to what exactly? That Prescott isn’t significantly better than Justing Fields or Mitchell Trubisky?

If you wanna go ahead and pretend that Prescott isn’t miles better than the journeyman slop and busts they’ve signed on the cheap that Pittsburgh has been trotting out at the QB position since Roethlisberger retired, go ahead.

Rodgers, who is 87 years old, is the best QB they’ve featured since Ben. Not to mention the Steelers have had completely trash OCs who are calling games like it’s 1984.

As a fellow tiny football player I can tell you that you should not be surprised at this at all. Us small guys, who have been "the small guy" our entire lives learn how to avoid taking big hits. We learn how to contort our bodies as the hit comes in so as to not absorb the whole blow. We learn to get our butts on the ground or out of bounds. We play with our head on a swivel to make sure none o dem behemoths sneak up behind us and crush us. All through Pop Warner, Junior high and high school ball and on into college the only time I ever got hurt was in practice. From a teammate rolling me up or running some stupid drill where I had to fight through some guy 100 pounds larger than me in a 2 foot space.

Pickens finally has a QB and its a contract year. Its a combination of those two things.

So are you telling me other players have not been accused of things like this before and been drafted???
No I am not.. but most times when the accusations come about the team stands behind the player and lets him play out the season. TCU kicked him off the team in October. That led teams to take him off their draft boards. La'el Collins went through something similar when his ex-GF got murdered just before the draft. Fortunately for him there was no Covid year after his draft year. There have been other examples over the years. But let's face it, Turpin was a 150 wide receiver. The NFL has only faint interest in those guys even if they're squeaky clean. Collins was a 330 pound tackle. The NFL needs all of those they can find no matter the baggage. See Collins, Tunsil and a few others.

I'm sure Dak is far better than whoever Justing Fields is. That person doesn't even play in the NFL.

Williams - 5'10" - 220
Davis 5'11" 202
Blue - 5'9" 196

what the crap are you talking about??
There is a reason Williams and Davis run the 40 in the 4.5s & 4.6s.

Huge difference from Blue who runs the 49 in the 4.2s.

That's the crap I'm talking about. Now go make me a sammich for being a looney!!
