Inside George Pickens' turnaround from Steelers to Cowboys

Maybe pairing him with CeeDee has had an effect on him growing up?

Well I think a lot of his issues can be tied to maturity.

That’s not a defense of him. He does need to continue maturing. But I’ve never seen anything pointing to Pickens being a “bad person”. Just immature and letting his emotions getting the best of him and maybe a bit irresponsible.

You hope those are all things that improve as he ages and gains wisdom over the years.

Would Blue have hit the hole with that same authority? The kid will be fine but right now he's not hitting it up in there with the same explosiveness we saw in college. His head is spinning and that makes you play slower. It's not anybody's fault. He just needs time to grow. Now that this team has battled its way back into playoff contention there's no place for a "project." It's gotta be all hands on deck. Blue's time will come... It just won't be this year. As for the size thing? I dunno about that... He's like 5 pounds lighter than Malik Davis. I can't go there with ya. Given that he's 2 inches shorter that means he's most likely a thicker frame than Davis with a lower center of gravity. He just needs to get his head right.
I agree with everything you said, Ronnie. My issue is with Schotty's refusal to use Blue more earlier in the season and allow Blue to iron out his kinks on the field. Instead, Schotty benched him and only slowed Blue's progress. Schotty also plays personal favorite types. He even admitted it himself. He'd best hope our slower RBs don't get caught from behind during a play where if they had more speed they could have broken a few plays and ran down the field for touchdowns to win the game instead of losing us the game. I'll be the first here blasting Schotty for being a stubborn fool. My other beef is with the many posters already clamoring about how Blue is "immature" and a "wasted pick" while hoping Blue gets cut. Those are the same fans who said the same crapola about Nayshon Wright, and look at Nayshon now playing for the Bears and arguably performing like the best CB in the whole NFL up to date. What a waste of a costly 3rd round pick simply because Nayshon was wrongfully called "lazy", "not taking it serious", and a tall but skinny CB who can't cover, find the ball or tackle. Well, look at him now? He's tearing it up. Should have had better coaches who could see his potential and be willing to coach him up slowly for the near future.

Sorry but Blue might be fast but Turpin ran sub 4.3 while training BY HIMSELF before being signed with the UFL. I know Blue ran 4.38 at the combine but I would offer that his time was achieved with far superior coaching and nutrition than Turpin got because of his being suspended from the team. But stopwatches aside if you watch the two of them on the football field there is no mistaking who PLAYS faster. It's Turpin by a country mile. Blue may eventually have the light go on for him and be able to capitalize on his speed too. And I can't wait to see it. You know me.. I'm a sucker for speed.. but it has to be accompanied with actual football ability.
Blue's coaches need to get their heads out of their bumpkusses and earn their million dollar salaries by coaching up Blue to get used to NFL speed of the game, hit the hole fast and not hesitate. If not, wth are those coaches doing? Earning free paychecks to become millionaires??? They are wasting away bonafied 4.2 speed!

No I am not.. but most times when the accusations come about the team stands behind the player and lets him play out the season. TCU kicked him off the team in October. That led teams to take him off their draft boards. La'el Collins went through something similar when his ex-GF got murdered just before the draft. Fortunately for him there was no Covid year after his draft year. There have been other examples over the years. But let's face it, Turpin was a 150 wide receiver. The NFL has only faint interest in those guys even if they're squeaky clean. Collins was a 330 pound tackle. The NFL needs all of those they can find no matter the baggage. See Collins, Tunsil and a few others.
I agree. 150 lbs does not even get you an undrafted free agent contract.

As a fellow tiny football player I can tell you that you should not be surprised at this at all. Us small guys, who have been "the small guy" our entire lives learn how to avoid taking big hits. We learn how to contort our bodies as the hit comes in so as to not absorb the whole blow. We learn to get our butts on the ground or out of bounds. We play with our head on a swivel to make sure none o dem behemoths sneak up behind us and crush us. All through Pop Warner, Junior high and high school ball and on into college the only time I ever got hurt was in practice. From a teammate rolling me up or running some stupid drill where I had to fight through some guy 100 pounds larger than me in a 2 foot space.
This is true but it's still impressive when he does get popped hard he pops right back up pretty fast man we call those dudes wiry but you got to be tough to take a hit like that on special teams and just pop up and just walk off like it didn't happen at his height and weight that's impressive...

I will not argue that.. I was right there with you wanting them to find ways to get him into the game but I'm not going to castigate the coaches too much because I'm not at practice every day watching his work both on and off the field. They are. They don't seem like they're holding grudges against anybody. If he's not keeping up in the classroom they're not gonna put him out there. Because we've seen one missed blitz pickup effectively end our QB's season a couple of times. I want to see the kid play too.. but the Cowboys just are not in a position to take any risks with him right now. And as long as Davis and Williams keep ballin they're probably not going even consider it.

Well dude is a football player. Not one o dem track dudes masquerading as a football player. He has learned how to take a hit, how to fall, and how to protect himself at the bottom of the pile. Kudos to him. There's also an element of "never let 'em know they got ya" in there. Even if the hit hurt like the dickens you never want to give the defender the satisfaction of knowing he got you good. So you pop up and walk off as if it never happened.. then you go find a quiet place away from the cameras to regroup! LOL!
