Wow, I've seen it time and time again in the NFL but the OU-Oregon game really took the cake...
They institute instant replay to correct bad calls and ensure critical calls are correct....
why oh why in the world can they still not get calls correct even though some of them are blatantly clear on replay?
I really cannot remember two more critical calls ever being any more clear on instant replay that the call on the field was incorrect yet the refs replay it and uphold calls that are so obviously wrong even the Oregon home fans are surprised. Unreal.
I see it over and over in the NFL too....
so what's the point of instant replay? It seems that the tv coverage will show the replay and a play will be just absolutely obvious yet its still like flipping a coin as to whether or not the officials will make the correct call.
I don't mean to sound whiny and sound like I'm making excuses, my point is that it seems to be a very recurring problem throughout college and pro football and its very annoying. Oftentimes, the refs will review a play and then reverse a good field call. Purely amazing!
I guess this is a general NFL and general football topic but I'm posting it here....

Two absolutely horrible replay calls against OU.

That reply guy should be shot. And I wanted Oregon to win.

Yeah OU got jobbed hardcore. On the deflection ok maybe you think iot was to close, but on the onside kickoff there was 100% clear visual proof the Oregon guy touched the ball first and before 10 yards

Honestly, HONESTLY, I was FAR more upset that those calls were reviewed, BLATANTLY obvious, and still incorrectly called, and it directly changed the outcome of a game than I was about OU losing. I actually didn't expect them to win and I lost all hopes of a title run once Bomar decided to be an idiot.
I would say the same if it were two teams that I cared very little about.
I don't know what the protocol is for something like that, but there should be a lawsuit or something. I don't know how you can give OU an "L" for that.
I'm just so tired of instant replay if anyone hasn't noticed....its been a recurring theme with me for about 2 years now.

Not to mention that a Sooner actually had the ball on the recovery. In all the hoopla, before the instant replay they actually showed that OU had the ball...

Worst officiating I've seen in 20 years of watching OU football.....

I agree - those review calls were horrible. OU won that game. BTW - I'm a Tarheels fan. Not that anyone cares but just to say I'm not an OU homer.

I know what was up with that. I replayed it over and over and that guy had the ball almost as soon as there was a pileup. Crazy call...One of many.

Absolutely terrible calls.

How do you reveiw both of these calls and get them both wrong?

Bad calls happen, I understand that but these calls absolutely decided the game. OU's ball game is over.

Oh well on to the Total Domination of the Commanders.

Although I'm a big LongHorn Fan......I'll have to agree that is one of the most atrocious calls I have ever seen made.

Wow did anyone else just see that USC RB's season end

that almost made me sick to my stomach...that was horrible.
I just hope that the guy will be able to walk okay in the longterm...that was absolutely atrocious.
I still remember the guy who had a horrible knee injury like that in a football game and actually ended up having to have his leg amputated at the knee because of the extreme nerve damage done.

I am an OU fan. I try not to be a sour grapes sort of guy, but this is becoming way too common. The same thing happened to OU last year in Lubbock. Now this...You know, the funny thing is how the refs simply ignored the fact that OU recovered the kick anyway. How did they rule that way?

In between, ther Super Bowl made a lot of people question things...

Also, my Mavs got screwed big time.

In all honesty, poor officiating is ruining these games. I just can't help but wonder who is profitting by this incompetence?

My guess is big time gambling's Rent-a-Ref service. :

But, who knows? Maybe the refs just do it for the fun of it.

Honestly, there are calls so atrocious that a team needs to walk off the field in protest when it's that obvious. That's what I would do. There's something about blatant error, after extended review that's just wrong.

As for me, I'm one of those guys who roots against OU, just to have a little friendly competition with my wife, but if there's one thing I can't stand, it's incompetent officiating. Not making a tough decision on a close call, that's decisiveness, today's game was flat out INCOMPETENT.

But, who knows?

How much do Pac 10 refs get paid anyway? I've been searching and haven't found anything on that. I did find out that the Replay Official is the sole source of overturning a call on the field. Haven't found out who was officiating the replay booth for the game.

Worst officiating I've ever seen, and I'm no OU fan. The NCAA needs to investigate this game, there absolutely had to be some dirty officiating going on. No way you blow those two calls.

Home cookin' if I've ever seen it. I felt bad for OU. They deserved the win, and they got cheated out of it.

It was horrible, but I was not surprised considering that it was Pac 10 officials in the booth with an agenda.

As a horn fan, I was pissed to see OU get jobbed that way considering they had earned a tough victory to have it robbed from them by officials who made no attempt to hide the fact.

I'm glad that justice doesn't see uniform colors. I've seen people who have ties to Texas, Kansas State, Nebraska, USC, and even Oregon say how pathetic the officiating was.

The sad part of it is, most of us just want to watch a football game and cheer for our team. If and when our team is outplayed, we can deal with it. We might be mad. We might cuss. But in the end, we saw the better team win.

Too often lately officials have been the determining factor of a game. It's happened in ever single sport. With more and more incompetence, more partiality, more crookedness, and new ways to cheat, it does get old to watch sports.

I don't know, maybe it's always been this way, but these last few years have been awfully frustrating for someone who enjoys the true spirit of competition.

I want to see what the NCAA does about it. If they can let such a blatant show of arrogance and corruption go unpunished then I would say they are complicit in the whole matter and are laughing in our faces. To write it off as "home cooking" doesn't cut it, IMO.
