RULE NO. 4: When in doubt, check out the coaching matchups
An easy rule of thumb: Before you make a selection, imagine you're watching the game and seeing one of those split-screen thingies with both coaches pacing the sidelines. Could you handle knowing that you backed the coach who looks like the overmatched doofus? For instance, six years ago, I took Miami over Buffalo simply because I didn't want to see a spilt-screen shot and know that I gambled on the doofus (Wade Phillips) over the guy who looked like a real coach (Jimmy Johnson). Sounds stupid? It worked. Buffalo doubled Miami's yardage and dominated the time of possession ... yet they still blew the game with four turnovers. Go figure.

This is after Parcells left and Jerry hadn't yet named a coach. I'm sure this was not news to anyone when we got this guy, but...

Going by the "split screen" test, who would you choose -- Rod Marinelli or Andy Reid?

For that matter, how does this guy do on the eyeball test?

Out of all the guys you mentioned, Wade Phillips looks like the biggest doofus.

I guess people forget Tuna's look there towards the end of his last season...it was a look of utter defeat like he just had no answers.

So by your theory, he's a worse coach than Marinelli.

Herm Edwards looks like a heck of a coach, doesn't he?

Theory fails.

(And Simmons is such a smart ***, he wasn't being very serious anyway.)

I actually believe that WP is the worst head coach in the league. He's a solid D coordinator, but a horrible HC.

And yes, Marinelli to me talks and acts like a real team leader. It's not his fault that idiot Matt Millen assembled the worst team ever.

Yeah, he did look dazed and confused at times during his last season in Dallas.

I cant get off my mind when the press asked him why they dont run stunts or more complex blitzes and he stated they cant execute basic plays how can I trust them to do more complicated schemes. Pretty much sums up this team the last 4 years.

I don't think Parcells' assessment was off. How often have we heard opposing team players say that our defense looks confused most of the time?

I've heard the Giants players say this, Jon Kitna said this about Bradie James and I've also heard announcers say this during the game. Maybe Parcells was right and he was trying to hide his teams weaknesses.

thats the real issue with this team, the attitude, want to, when players cant execute basic plays, that tells they dont want to or too stupid, yet they want to be treated like professionals. Give me a break, these players dont know the meaning of the word professionals, because of a few players like flozell adams, greg ellis, etc, this ruins attitude and want to because these players get away with things from jerry jones, Thats the main rub,

Think Parcells thought that there was nothing he could do to get this team/these players properly motivated? To have that killer instinct? Maybe it wasn't Parcells and maybe it's not entirely Wade...

Oh I have no doubt some players are part of the problem and Wade just makes the issue worse. It is not all one thing or the other it starts with the HC and includes several knuckleheads

Flo is one since Bill left he is the most penalized linemen on false starts he is round 18 in two full season. I was against resigning the guy this summer but Jerry over payed and we have him for at least 2 more years and people thought many of us where crazy for not wanting Flo back. remember Flo bast years where the years Parcell's rode him hard year in and year out. Flo is a guy that requires a whip not a carrot at the end of a stick.

No kidding. I know that every game I have watched this season, there are multiple series where the D players are asking each other where they are supposed to be lined and are running around in confusion right up to the time the ball is snapped. Especially the secondary. Ware too (never seems sure if he's supposed to rush or cover).

This has been a huge problem since Parcells.

Remember the Saints game where Ware was at fault for like 3 tds passes to the fullback?

You'd think after the first or second time he'd learn something. Parcells said it was an individual who made mistakes that lead to the TDs after the game. So who's fault was it that Ware kept getting tricked and making mistakes?

My theory is that our players are great athletes, have a lot of passion to play the game, but are not very smart. And having a coach like WP who is completely hands off makes things even worse.

Anyone still have the links to those gifs from a couple of years ago? One of them was Parcells about to punch a player, and the other was him obviously screaming f you to a ref. Those were hilarious.
