After rewatching the post game show from last night I thought it was interesteing what Ware said about the 3-4 and 4-3 as far as pressure. Ware said something to the the extent that in the 3-4 you only have ONE player trying to rush the QB. And we wonder why our D sucks so badly when it comes to QB pressure :banghead: :bang2: :banghead: :bang2: :banghead: :bang2:

That is absolutely not true.

Take a look at Pittsburgh for a perfect example.

Possibly the 3-4 is not being run in this defense with more than one because of the secondary concerns, and coverage concerns for RBs coming out of the backfield, or TEs coming off of their blocks.

What's it going to be then, eh?

In our watered down version of the 3-4, that is probably true.

Right now, it is just him. Before it was either he or Ellis most of the time.

Interesting. Can you rewatch it and try and post a word for word quote?

You think maybe the fact the Lions throw 70% of the time may have something to do with that?

Pretty sure I deletyed it out of disgust. I watch em once and out the go here lately.

That was basically word for word. He also went into how the 4-3 you KNOW youre rushing thye passer off the edge where in the 3-4 there are more line calls as far as trying to figure out whos rushing and whos dropping back into coverage

I think he meant one LB rushing the QB. What I found more interesting was that he said the technique a 4-3 end uses putting a hand to the ground was much more effective for him rushing the passer, than the technique a 3-4 OLB uses where they stand straight up. He said he prefers to just concentrate on rushing the passer, which is pretty much all he did Monday.

OT, I know. But I read that last night and wonder how much of it is posturing vs. reality.

I have met Key a couple of times and he isnt one to mince words.

Problem isnt Henning so much as Jake and that piss poor offensive line.

At least I was right about how bad/overrated the Panthers would be this season.

Keys too loyal and in this case too much talk (big suprise). I think he may just be looking for a reason to walk. 2 years together with Henning and the Jets were his 2 most productive years BUT he was LOTS younger then. Give it up Key, you're standing up for the wrong cause on this one.

Maybe we can get Key AND henning as a package deal ;) j/k

We run the worst 3-4 D in the league. Nothing any player says would surprise me.

Isn't that when you get sacks? I have not seen a sack on a running play have you?

Exactly ive been saying this all year!!! probably the worst 3-4 D ever. the 3-4 is supposed to confuse the opponents offense n help pressure which leads to sacks and turnovers. We do nothing of that sort, our D is the biggest sham ever!!!!!

In all fairness the Cowboys dont have the personnel to execute a dominant 3-4.

They need a dominant NT ( Wilfork for example) , DE's who get pressure on the edges (but have enough size to control the line still) , LBs who are small enough to cover and strong/fast enough to support run. And basically leave Roy to do what he does best most of the time. A solid coverage FS, and Cowboys are okay as far as CBs go the problems with the secondary start up front.

But hey... thats just my opinion, and remember I am a Commanders fan.

Even with your handicap, you probably know more about running a defense then our current DC. :banghead: :)

Ware was in coverage alot Sunday if you watch the video. They still played the 3-4 more than what I would've liked.

He's right about having a huge NT to play that position, but when I mentioned last year that Ferguson was too light, people ripped me a part, so I've shut my face about it. If the boys want to run a 3-4, they'd better get another Ware, and a huge NT, and a DC who knows how to run it, and a coach who will let the Coordinator do what he needs to do.
